SPRINGDALE – Bentonville struggled to move the ball in the first half against an energized Springdale defense. The Tigers, though, carried a 10-0 lead into the half.

And after the break, it was all Bentonville, scoring 21 in the third to run away from the Red'Dogs and hand them their third consecutive loss. WR Kam'Ron Mays-Hunt led the Tigers with eight catches for 86 yards and a touchdown in the third quarter to pull Bentonville's offense out of a funk.

Bentonville West Playoff talk begins to mount

Bentonville West — a team with no seniors — now has two more wins than many people expected the team to have in its inaugural season after a wild 42-40 win last week over Springdale High.

The Wolverines may have something else in the near future: a playoff berth. There are still four games remaining in the regular season, but talk has begun as West (2-4, 2-1) sits above four teams in the 7A-West standings and six teams advance to postseason play.

Week 6 Athlete of the Week: Will Jarrett

Bentonville West, a team some wrote off this season because it has no seniors on its roster, is 2-1 in 7A-West play after a 42-40 win against Springdale High on Friday.

Sophomore quarterback Will Jarrett is the ARPreps.com Athlete of the Week after completing 21 of 29 passes for 332 yards and four touchdowns and also rushing for a touchdown in the first-year program’s second victory. The Wolverines’ only other touchdown was 99-yard interception return by junior Jason Gloeckler.

Rogers High Lady Mounties win Border Wars Rogers High put together a solid day of volleyball to claim the 12-team Border Wars tournament on Saturday at Hollister, Mo. The Lady Mounties (21-11) went 6-0 on the day, defeating Clever, Mo. for the second time in the tournament finals. "I feel like we did a really good job siding out," Rogers High coach Christina Lawrence said. "We played pretty consistently and served very well. Clever was a big team with some heavy arms."
