Springdale Har-Ber boys The 7A-West is as wide open as its been in quite some time. And as of now, Springdale Har-Ber looks to be a serious preseason contender for the conference crown. Bowlin’s club finished under .500 last season in the loaded 7A-West as the Wildcats earned the league’s five seed in the state tournament. They then fell 56-53 to West Memphis in the opening round in Cabot. The conference isn’t nearly as loaded this winter, though, as Fayetteville and Bentonville stars Payton Willis and Malik Monk have moved on to Vanderbilt and Kentucky, respectively. VIDEO: Reece Gives Saints a Shot

Shiloh Christian (Springdale, Ark.) quarterback Connor Reece is a third-year stater at quarterback who has led the Saints' to their first 10-win season since 2010.

He's had to learn how to be a more vocal leader since switching from cornerback to quarterback two weeks before his freshman season began.

Week 12 Notebook Class 5A and Below

GRAVETTE For its second consecutive five-hour plus bus ride, Gravette’s travel itinerary isn’t changing much. The Lions won 37-27 at Pocahontas last Friday and head to Hamburg this Friday.

They traveled nearly 600 miles round trip to Pocahontas and will trek nearly 700 miles for the round trip to Hamburg.

“It’s about 15 minutes farther, so we’ll leave at 7:45 Friday morning, which about 15 minutes earlier (than last week),” said Gravette coach Bill Harrelson. “We’ll stop at (Arkansas-Monticello) instead of Harding to do (a walk-through). Conway rushed for more than 450 yards, including 238 by junior Michael George, as the Warmpus Cats knocked off Rogers High 35-20 in the opening round of the Class 7A football playoffs Friday night.
