Springdale Har-Ber will begin 7A-West Conference play after placing second in the Neosho (Mo.) Holiday Classic.

Har-Ber reached the championship game before falling 86-55 to nationally-ranked Atascocita, Texas, which improved to 22-0. Har-Ber took a 29-25 lead in the second quarter and trailed 42-36 at halftime.

Atascocita broke the game open with a 29-10 surge in the third quarter. Tylor Perry scored 16 points and Avery Benson 14 to lead Har-Ber.

SILOAM SPRINGS — Coach Jeremy Price called out ‘Bulldog’ early in the second quarter with his team on defense and trailing in the Holiday Classic championship game.

On command, Springdale High extended its halfcourt defense and began trapping Rogers High guards and playing with frenetic energy. The Mounties crumbled, turning the ball over five times in six possessions as a five-point lead turned into an 18-13 deficit thanks to a 10-0 Springdale run.

Girls: Springdale 60, Siloam Springs 40

Springdale closed with a 19-4 run to earn an impressive 60-40 win over Siloam Springs in the tournament's third-place game.

Siloam cut its deficit to 41-36 early in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs (6-5) bounced back from their disappointing 50-45 loss to Holland Hall a day earlier by closing strong and using a balanced scoring attack, with three players scoring in double figures and five seniors scoring nine-plus. Ryann Goodsell led the way with 11 points. Desiree Mack and Maya Hood each scored 10, while Anna Gadison and Chasidee Owens chipped in nine apiece.

Springdale put together one of its best defensive efforts of the year, highlighted by outscoring Coweta 23-3 in the third quarter to pull away for a 52-33 win in the Siloam Springs Holiday Classic semifinals.

The Bulldogs (7-3) controlled the paint, with its trio of senior bigs — Ishine McFarlane, Kyler Mahar and Towayne Bobo — combining to score 37 points. McFarlane had a game-high 14, Mahar chipped in 13 and Bobo added 10.

Boys: Har-Ber 68, Memphis Mitchell 59

NEOSHO, Mo. — Tyler Garrett missed his first four shots Wednesday afternoon against an athletic Memphis (Tenn.) Mitchell team in the Neosho Holiday Classic semifinals.

But the Springdale Har-Ber sophomore guard knocked down a big 3-pointer in the final minute of the third quarter to pull the Wildcats within two points after trailing big in the first half. Moments later, he drained another deep 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Har-Ber a 40-39 lead, its first of the game.

SILOAM SPRINGS — The second half of Springdale High's first-round matchup with Tulsa (Okla.) Holland Hall was defined by runs.

The Bulldogs started the third quarter with a 10-0 run to take a 14-point lead, but Holland Hall answered by closing the third with 10 unanswered points of their own to cut its deficit back to four.

Springdale led 41-6 late in the first half and cruised to a mercy rule win in first-round action at the Holiday Classic.

Maya Hood scored a team-high 10 points and added four steals and two rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs (5-4). Chasidee Owens scored all nine of her points in the first quarter and had four rebounds and two steals as Springdale took control early, jumping out to a 17-0 lead.
