Shiloh Christian coach Jeff Conaway is hopeful a top offensive lineman can play, but remains uncertain about his top two receivers heading into tonight’s game at Little Rock Christian. Senior center Chase Bowerman missed the season-opening, 35-22 win at Elkins after suffering an ankle injury in a preseason scrimmage at Springdale. Bowerman is a third-year starter and handles all the calls up front. Tyler Roth and Jake Nelson, who combined for more than 100 catches and nearly 2,000 yards in 2015, didn’t play against Elkins due to leg injuries. Following a physical, 21-20 overtime win against Ozark, Gravette coach Bill Harrelson is happy to report no new injuries. Springdale High avenged last season's playoff lost to Conway on the road Friday night, beating the Wampus Cats 37-30. The Bulldogs were led by receiver Kyler Willams, who caught seven passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Erick Mendez had a solid night also, rushing 28 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Layne Hutchins, in his high school debut, threw for 179 yards and three scores without a turnover. The Springdale defense also held Conway in check on the ground. The Tigers will have a lot of cleaning up to do if they want to be contenders in the 7A-West Conference this season.
