Do we need to worry about Clemson with James?

  2. woopig18 woopig18 says:

I really like brooks ellis if he can get some more size.

  3. boulderhog boulderhog says:

Apparently Oklahoma offered too. Hope he sticks with us.

  4. joshua joshua says:

Man, I love watching Jamel’s highlights! He runs angry. He seems to have great vision, great pad level at contact, great leg drive after contact, and good breakaway speed. Anyone know his 40 time?

  5. Platinúm Jesús Platinúm Jesús says:

Booher looks like a giant compared to the other players and the refs on his highlights.

I believe James will stay committed to Arkansas. It does not hurt that other top programs are offering him or for that matter other athletes as well. It is interesting to see that programs like Texas, Alabama and Texas A & M already have quite a few commits. Maybe that is their coaches style.
Obviously it is not Petrino’s style to get early commits in bunches. Possibly he takes more time to evaluate the recruits. Like I have said before, this is just my humble opinion on the matter :)

  7. alabamahog alabamahog says:

UT is different in a lot of ways. They are THE largest University in the USA. It is located in the largest state (and no I didn’t forget Alaska – their population is lower than Rhode Island) with one of the best , if not the best, high school programs in the country. UT doesn’t have to recruit hard. The Texas kids grow up dreaming of playing for UT. That is why they get early commitments. Alabama gets theirs due to their winning tradition. We will reach Alabamas level soon. CBP has us on the right track. GHG!

  8. boulderhog boulderhog says:

    Okay, another question (haha):

Does it help us possibly flip Tenpenny since Alabama jut got another 4* RB? Bama boards say they are taking 3 in this class too. I would assume somebody will move to corner or safety.

I love Arkansas high school players becoming Razorbacks because they teach the others the pride and tradition of wearing the Cardinal and White. However, Booher looks to me like he plays to high (which can be coached) and doesn’t have enough bend or explosiveness (which may not be able to be coached). Love to be wrong here. Kublanow appears to be the same type of athlete as Booher. He actually looks better on defense than offense which is usually not the case.

I worry about no school with James. I know alot can change quickly especialy for 17 yr olds, but this kid has went on the news and proclaimed himself a Hog through and through as well as his love for the state. A kid with his talent will get alot more offers during and after his senior season and Texas will make there major pitch 1 week before NSD. We all know this is gonna happen IMO he is a Hog and will be come NSD.

  11. artex artex says:

nchog bend and explosiveness will both get a boost in the hogs workout program

  12. beasley beasley says:

Michael Qualls ended regular season averaging 17pts 10reb. His Coach said his stats would have been better but they got so far ahead of teams he took him out. finished the 34-4 and Quallls was all district MVP. the link is to their first playoff game.

I know that BP is not going to give Tenpenny any special favors to flip to Arkansas. In my mind, Tenpenny has already made his decision and we shouldn’t put an undue amount of effort into flipping him. With the RB’s we got in this last class and what is already on the roster, we are in good shape there.

  14. beasley beasley says:

Bama just added a top running back for next year. 4* Tyren Jones from Ga. Tenpenny is going to have plenty of compitation.

  15. homerhog homerhog says:

That’s good news on Qualls….can’t wait. I’ve really been disappointed in Madden. With alll the hype I was just expecting more.

  16. bobv bobv says:

Boy, I sure hope we can make some inroads in GA, especially metro Atlanta. I know we get a couple every year, but it looks like we are on a bunch early this year. If you look at AL and AU (and their 4*s and 5*s), most come from GA….not to mention that UGA has been in the top ten in recruiting for the last ten years.

  17. bigboi bigboi says:

We have Paul Haynes and Taver Johnson recruiting GA and Florida this year. I expect positive results from these coaches recruiting those areas.

  18. jlteague23 jlteague23 says:

Razorback Roger, just FYI, UT is not the largest University, I think its about 5th. I do agree that they have the largest talent pool however. We need to do better in recruiting the top Texas recruits as well as those in GA, AL, FL

  19. alabamahog alabamahog says:

jlteague, I posted that about UT. You are right. The list of largest enrollment includes all off site campuses. UT used to be the largest, but has been surpassed due to other schools combining with multiple offsite small colleges. Here is the top combined enrollments:

1 Arizona State University a[›] Tempe, Arizona 59,794[1]
2 University of Central Florida b[›] Orlando, Florida 58,587[2]
3 Ohio State University Columbus, Ohio 56,867[3]
4 University of Minnesota Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota 52,557[4]
5 University of Texas at Austin b[›] Austin, Texas 51,112[5]
    6 Texas A&M University b[›] College Station, Texas 49,861[6]
7 University of Florida b[›] Gainesville, Florida 49,589[7]

ASU has the most off site campuses. Their campus in Tempe is smaller than UT. I had relied on my memory of UT when we were in the SWC. It was the largest then.

  20. jlteague23 jlteague23 says:

I only knew that because I went to UCF… it was always mentioned how they were one of the biggest schools in the nation. UCF is the same way, they have a lot of satellite campuses. Although they keep building upon their campus grounds, and have a lot of property to keep expanding.

  21. razorback roger razorback roger says:

Recruiting seems to go in cycles as far as where we get our recruits. Emphasis recently has been on Memphis and Dallas Metro . We have not really gotten into Florida as much as we need to. I live in Bradenton, Florida. Kids down here have no idea who Arkansas is. That is because we have not emphasized Florida that much. The Gators and Seminoles take their pick of the best. Everyone else gets the leftovers. Georgia may be a bit different, I can’t say.
I guess it all depends on the science of research as to where CBP sends his recruiters.

  22. nchog123 nchog123 says:

artex, Couldn’t agree more. The question though is a player good enough without the strength and conditioning and flexibility program to get an offer. When you look at the film of Brey Cook coming out of high school, you see an incredible athlete who can run, bend, explodes his hips, and plays at a very good pad level. So, you think man wait until Velkamp gets this guy. What will he be like in two years? I don’t see the athletic ability with Booher or Kublanow to work with for them to get an offer. Hope I’m wrong.

  23. razorback roger razorback roger says:

Speaking of Brey Cook, can someone bring me up to date on his progress? I think I heard that he had mononucleosis last season. Is that true or not? I suppose that if he was in the weight program, he should look even better than when he came to campus. It would be nice to have updates on guys like him, Mitch Smothers, Luke Charpentier and others.

  24. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

The QB – Parker Mcleod – has a couple of wideouts that look pretty good too. What about those guys?
