When Texas tight end Christian Morgan visited Arkansas on Saturday, he was able to get an in-depth look how the Hogs utilize his position and all aspects of the program. View more highlights here
Morgan, 6-6, 245, 4.75 Plano Prestonwood Christian Academy is one of the top prospects in the Lone Star state and is seeing his recruiting heat up with schools like Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Baylor and Tulsa offering scholarships.
“I couldn’t pick a more perfect offense for me to play in,” said Morgan, who was featured in Tuesday’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “We watched D.J. Williams first from 2010 and all the different kind of passing options. As far as the pro-style system, they’re unparalleled … as far as their crossing routes and their play-action and bootleg game. No one else runs an offense like that or runs it that well.”
Morgan saw video of senior -to-be tight end Chris Gragg and how he has developed while at Arkansas.
“They broke stuff down as far as stances and routes,” Morgan said. “So if you came there we would work on the tiniest details as far as eyes, shoulders, feet and making you into the best tight end you can be.”
Associate athletic director for academics & student-athlete development Eric Wood’s program impressed Morgan and his mother.
“That blew me away as far as like personal, spiritual development as well as academics,” Morgan said. “He set the tone. He talked to us first and I was blown away. I didn’t meet him personally but he’s definitely a guy I would like to work for or play for or whatever. I would want to have him on my team.”
Arkansas’ current facilities impressed Morgan as did the 40 million dollar upgrades under construction.
“They showed us all the plans for the new stuff too,” Morgan said. “For us to be the first class to come and kind of break the ground on the new facilities would be awesome. The facilities they have now, the weight room and others are unparallel. Again, I was just blown away. ”
Morgan’s visit elevated the Hogs as his leader.
“That would be correct,” Morgan said laughing. “You can go ahead and write that.”
Morgan and offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Paul Petrino have been communicating for several weeks but the visit gave the two the chance to meet.
“Putting name with a face and meeting someone in person is huge for me,” Morgan said. “Another thing, Coach Bobby Petrino was out of town today so I think before I commit I kind of want to get in touch with him . At least meet him or talk to him and feel comfortable with the whole process.”
Paul Petrino’s approach to recruiting is a hit with Morgan.
“He shoots you straight and he’s very detailed oriented to where you never miss a beat,” Morgan said. ” No matter what it is whether it’s academics or whether it’s football they’re always pushing you to be top-notch. ”
Arkansas’ nationally ranked business school and the Hogs’ academic game plan for student-athletes is another plus for Arkansas.
“A degree from here as far as business wise would be unparallel,” Morgan said. “Also they talked about to where I come in for summer school to where I can earn my degree in three years and be working on my masters in my fourth year of eligibility so I can squeeze the most out of my athletic ability I guess you can say.”

THAT’S stronger than dirt….thanks Richard.
Great to hear he loves our program!
I really want to see Christian and Hunter Henry both commit and lock down the position for the next few year. Both would be capable of starting as freshmen.
We have nearly a year to go but things so far really sound promising.
Im starting to like this kid more and more, very athletic and his head seems to screwed on straight. Cant wait for him to call the hogs
Looks & Sounds like OUR kind of Hog. Go, Christian! WPS!!!
If we get Hunter and Christian, I could see us in an offense like the Patriots. Dual tight ends and a stable of big fast backs with muliple world class speed WR = 600+ yards/gm!
WPS!
i hope we get two tight ends in this class. i think that would be tough on linebackers because if 2 tight ends come up field, they could be blocking or receiving.
I’m liking our chances with Morgan, sounds like a willing student of the game and we have one of the best systems to learn from…
Morgan said it all. Arkansas looks at the whole student-athlete as a spiritual being, academics, how he can be an asset to the program, athletically, developmentally, fit, and work ethic. We have missed out on some big prizes lately, but they also have missed out.
Impressive young man. WPS!!!
I think he will commit to Arkansas in the next few days.
This sounds like a “true” committment…… a young man that
Again. ……this sound like a “true” committment when it comes…..a young man that WANTS ” to be a Razorback.
The Pats gave the NFL fits this year with two great tight ends. Would love to see that as an option in the Hogs offense !
I think it would be unparalleled to have Morgan and Hunter running parallel down the field.
