WR Demetrius Wilson of Glendale C.C. had a great visit to Arkansas and said the Hogs are little ahead of Tennessee and Arizona, where he plans to visit next weekend. He’s not sure when he’ll make a decision.

Kentucky OL Joey Warburg was blown away by the Razorbacks fans and the facilities. He said  he’s committed to Illinois but the visit definitely helped the Hogs. He said Arkansas appears to be recruiting him as a TE.

Florida CB Gary Simon said the Hogs are No. 1 at this time. The facilities and fans really impressed him. Has visited Iowa State and is leaving to go to Oklahoma for a visit.

WR Davonte Neal really liked his visit and came away highly impressed with the fans. and facilities. The basketball atmosphere was another highlight.  Kelvin Fisher was his host.

Texas LB Dalton Santos, who’s committed to Tennessee, said the visit to Arkansas made the recruiting process much tougher on him. The team unity was huge with him along with the fans. He said he could have a final decision in a couple days or week. He’s not taking any other visits. I think Arkansas has a very good chance.

Texas RB Trey Williams said he didn’t know Arkansas had such great facilities and fans. Very impressed but not enough to sway him. He said he’s an Aggie.

** 12:26 update **

OL Jordan Diamond of Chicago said the visit was one of the better visits he’s taken. The fan base was a big hit with him.  He said the committed running backs and receivers were all recruiting him along with Cordal Boyd and Jeremy Ward.  The visit appeared to helped Arkansas’ chances.

His mother, Angela was taken back by the fans. She couldn’t believe the support Arkansas gets from the Hog fans. She felt Jordan would be well taken care of at Arkansas  before the visit and the visit reconfirmed that.

Diamond will announce Feb. 3 at 7 pm.

** 7:45 update **

Arkansas commitment Jeremy Ward said he had the time of his life during his visit. He loved hanging out with the other recruits. He feels real good about Arkansas’ chances with OL Jordan Diamond. He also thinks the Hogs are in good shape with Dorial Green-Beckham.

** 7:54 update **

Hog commitment Cordale Boyd said the highlight of the visit was arriving at the Catfish Hole and hearing the fans call the Hogs as the buses were pulling up. The fan support during the whole visit blew him and his parents away. He and Ward have become best friends. He plans to spend a few days of his spring break with the Ward family in Pottsville.

Boyd also feels good about the Hogs’ chances with Diamond and Green-Beckham.

** 8:07 update **

Albert Santos, the father of Dalton, confirmed Texas has offered and they will make an official visit to Austin this weekend. He had great things to say about Hog CB coach Bobby Allen and thinks he has the kid’s best interest in mind during the recruiting process.

He said the Arkansas visit was very impressive. Thinks highly of the program and the direction it’s going. He said Allen will do an in-home visit on Thursday.

** 8:26 update **

Auburn commitment/ DL Tyler Nero has cancelled his official visit to Arkansas for the upcoming weekend, according to his father, Norman.

** 9:15 update **

Arkansas commitment/ CB Ray Buchanan Jr. said Coach Bobby Petrino will do an in-home visit tomorrow.

Tallahassee Godby coach Ronnie Cottrell said he’s heard nothing about the rumors LB Jakarri Thomas committing to Vanderbilt.

Hog commitment/ DE Brandon Lewis said RB and RC Tim Horton and DE coach Steve Caldwell will visit his school tomorrow to watch him in basketball practice.

** 9:57 update **

LB/S Kenny Orjioke, who’s committed to UCLA, said he’s still a Bruin right now. He said he had a great visit at Arkansas and really appreciates DC Paul Haynes being such a family man. He said the Hogs are recruiting him as a safety.

He said Haynes will make an in-home visit on Thursday. He said he’ll make a final decision soon after the visit.  Looks like the Razorbacks have a chance to flip him.

Arkansas commitment/WR Courtney Gardner said he’ll make his official visit to Oklahoma this coming weekend.

i can’t wait to see which guys the hogs end up with i’ve said all along that the dgb was a hog and i’m not waivering!

  2. razorback roger razorback roger says:

I did not put much hope in swaying Williams. Besides, I am very happy with our two running back commits. My focus is still to land two linebackers and I think we have a great chance to do just that. Whether is it Santos or others, whoever commits will be great as a Hog. Offensive line looks like either Goodman or Diamond or both. And like others I now believe that DGB is Razorback bound. Yeahhhh !!

  3. oldhog oldhog says:

    Richard,
    Thanks for the updates.
Keep them coming inquiring minds want to know.

  4. woothog woothog says:

Good to hear about Santos, I really hope we get him. Thanks for the updates.

  5. marcm marcm says:

Richard, thanks again for the updates and for what u do, I been up all nite working, going to sleep and hope when i wake up i will read that we have some exciting news!! GHG!!

  6. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Well too bad about Williams. Yeah I knew it would take alot to sway him. I guess he will have to be satisfied with a lesser football team that’s going to continue to get their butts handed to them by Arkansas just like the last several years.

But we all make mistakes Trey. Thanks for giving us a shot. :)

  7. randsdjsr randsdjsr says:

DGB, Santos, diamond, Goodman and Neal… I said it a week ago… Best class in hog history!

  8. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

Holy Mackeral!!!…CB Gary Simon says the Hogs are currently #1 on his list and MLB Dalton Santos says he’ll be making a decision soon and won’t be taking anymore visits?

Wow! This is just too good!

I know there’s nothing concrete there to go on, but that is great news as far as I’m concerned. Looking good for the Hogs! WPS!!!

  9. justahog justahog says:

if williams did flip he wouldn’t tell, his buds wouldn’t speak to him, however don’t be surprised if he don’t get to A&M the young man wants out

  10. mrc005 mrc005 says:

Of all the kids here this weekend Trey is the one I didn’t really mind if we got or not. I watched him in the all America game. And he had problems securing the ball. I saw him take two hits and fumble the ball both times.

  11. Jerico 4 Heisman Jerico 4 Heisman says:

With Tyler and Knile back, whoever joins us is in for some exciting football!! I hope we get as many of these guys as possible. Anything can happen between now and signing day… Regardless, Razorback football will be on the rise!

  12. lahog lahog says:

Atleast when Williams and Addison get it handed to them the next 4 years by the Razorbacks, they will know why. Thanks Williams for atleast being man enough to weigh your options. I am sure you know deep down which program is in better hands.

  13. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

No doubt, if we just landed DGB and Dalton Santos, it would still rank as one of the better classes nationally.

Great times for the Razorback football program guys.
I don’t want to sound greedy, but I hope our coaching staff gets every recruit they set out for from now until NSD. It’s our time to shine. :P

  14. Jerico 4 Heisman Jerico 4 Heisman says:

Yeah guys, as unlikely as it may be given our current running back situation, Trey could be a silent…. I’m not saying he is, but positive thoughts and comments should be in order!

  15. News Carver News Carver says:

If we could end up with Goodman and Diamond on NSD, that would be really huge. We really need at least one of them because we only have two solid committments right now at OL, and that is not enough.

Glad to see Keon is now solid, he’s going to be a great WR.

If things fall right, we’ll help ourselves tremendously in every area but defensive tackle, but maybe one of the ends will evidentually move over.

  16. News Carver News Carver says:

    “eventually”

  17. oldhog oldhog says:

Come on man if you want to start a silent commit rumor lets make it DGB!

  18. tawtam tawtam says:

I knew Trey was just coming for the trip.

  19. georgiahog georgiahog says:

Here is how I see our 25 based upon all the current chatter:
    Running Backs:
    1. Jonathan Williams
    2. Donovan Roberts
    Receivers:
    3. Keon Hatcher or Demetrius Wilson probably out since Keon recommitted
    4. D’Arthur Cowan
    5. Eric Hawkins
    6. DGB or Courtney, who will only sign if DGB doesn’t
    Offensive Line:
    7. Jeremy Ward
    8. Cordale Boyd
    9. Jordan Diamond or Joe Warburg
    10. Evan Goodman
    11. Jeremy Sprinkle
    Secondary:
    12. Jared Collins
    13. Ray Buchanan Jr.
    14. Will Hines
    Defensive Line:
    15. Austin Flynn (not sure he counts toward 25 limit)
    16. Taiwan Johnson
    17. Deatrich Wise Jr
    18. Brandon Lewis
    Athletes:
    19. Nathan Holmes
    20. Defonta Lowe
    Inside Linebackers:
    21. Dalton Santos or Beau Hankins
    22. Vin Ascolese
    Outside Linebackers:
    23. A.J.Turner
    24. Jakarri Thomas
    25. Reggie Northrup or Seth Jacobs
    Backup Plan:
    1. Nick Scheussler, QB from Georgia (the #1 recruit for 2013, Robert Nkemdiche, lives with his family)
    Casualties:
    1. John Gibson had no visit or recent in-home from coaches. Must have eligibility issues
    2. JaMichael Winston will go elsewhere because he wants early playing time
    3. Chris Humes is out because Will Hines committed
    4. Harding Harper, who only has a shot with Beau if Reggie, Seth and Dalton don’t commit

  20. boubalos boubalos says:

On another thread, I asked about Chris Humes. ESPN has him as an Arkansas commit of 18 January. What’s the scoop?

  21. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

I’d put Eric Hawkins on the “Athlete” list.
Joe Warburg is being recruited by the Hogs as a TE.
Jeremy Sprinkle is being recruited as a DE/TE.

If there’s one guy I had to choose to take at LB, it’s definately Dalton Santos.
Not that the other LB recruits aren’t talented, but just because he looks to be a beast, div. 1 ready and the fact we need help badly at the MLB position and he looks to be an impact player.

  22. mrprfct mrprfct says:

I thought I read where Vin Ascolese said that we want him as an Outside Linebacker.

  23. mrc005 mrc005 says:

yeah, vin is being recruited for the WILL position he said. weak linebacker at 6’2″ 220 our backers are getting bigger.

  24. macman macman says:

For us DGB & Neal would be a huge inside outside combo! Those 2 are game changers……

  25. boulderhog boulderhog says:

Would love to have had Trey WIlliams but we have 2 great running backs coming in.

Trey could have been our Michael Smith. After our other running backs wear everybody out he could come in a take it to the house on them. Isn’t this what the NFL is doing with their RB’s?

    Razorbacks!!!!!

  26. stnorm stnorm says:

Some of you guys kills me! If Trey WIlliams had committed today or even said he was considering Arkansas, I assure you that you wouldn’t “not really care if we got him”.
He’s a GREAT player. And….he’s be honest the whole time. He said he was committed to A&M and was only coming to Arkansas because they asked him to and he wanted to show some love to us, becuase we had been so kind to him from the start. He is NOT silent…and he NOT coming to Arkansas…and it’s fine. We will be more than ok with the RBs we have. It really is ok that some kids pick other schools. Don’t take it so personal.
Tawtam — We get it dude!! You’ve posted it on every page for the last few days. You KNEW he wasn’t flipping, cause you know a guy who knows a guy…..GREAT!! Congrats….are you expecting a prize?? You don’t have “inside info” bro…..Trey Williams has said all along that he was just coming for the visit, but was strong to A&M. You don’t have any info that everyone else with the internet didn’t have.

If we get Diamond, Santos and DGB, it will be a GREAT class.

  27. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

I can see why Reggie Northrup is a “soft verbal” for Miami. They have 31 commits.

  28. mrc005 mrc005 says:

i cant see where warburg has ever caught a pass. lol. wonder if he would just be a blocking tight end.

  29. hogwildhogfan hogwildhogfan says:

I thought Jared Collins was ineligible????If so then Chris Humes is a go

  30. hog70 hog70 says:

We got the Williams we want and need(Jonathan); would love to add DGB, Santos, Diamond, Evans, some LB’s; dang, this is so exciting!

  31. mrc005 mrc005 says:

stnorm: if he flips to us i still would not really care. im not just saying that because of sour grapes or anything. he doesnt impress me from seeing him at the all america game. but if the coaches want him and he flipped to us then im glad they got a guy they wanted, but me personally, i really dont care either way. im not taking it personal. if i would have taken it personally. i would have been like forget that kid hes dumb, etc. do you feel like you need to bash people on here for not caring about a certain recruit? dont tell me what im feeling about a player. what i said was what i felt.

  32. mrc005 mrc005 says:

hawgwild: where did you hear that about collins?

  33. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

Hard to guess what Jordan Diamond is thinking, but it sounds like his mother is pretty high on the Hogs. That has to be a plus. ;)
Also good to know he had a great visit.

We’ll see what happens on Feb. 3rd.

  34. mrc005 mrc005 says:

georgiahog: i really like the schuessler kid. i have been tweeting with him the last couple of weeks. he told me if arkansas offered him, but didnt have room for a visit, he would probably still commit to us over CSU or Miss ST. i think he has been in a system where he couldnt put up big numbers (WING T) but i like how the kid looks. he said coach petrino was calling him today to talk about it.

  35. nchog nchog says:

Great stuff Richard! I’m stoked about this class, and how we are finishing it out with a bang! Go hogs!!

  36. mrc005 mrc005 says:

how will this work guys if we are waiting till after the first day of national signing day to get some of these guys. teams in other conferences wouldnt be hurt as bad by this because they can count back and they have more shcolies to give out each year. i hope we dont, as much as i would like some of these guys, what if none commited to us and we still had schollies to give out. we just lose them, or just give them to someone that no one else wants to sign.

  37. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

QB, FS and DT seem to be the only 3 positions we aren’t in the running for some highly rated recruits.

It would be nice if we were in on a good FS prospect with Tramaine Thomas graduating, but at least we aren’t hurting for a QB or a DT.

  38. mrc005 mrc005 says:

gonzo: fs: edward pope, dt: nero. both are coming for visits next weekend. qb: im telling u this kid schuessler is a good looking qb recruit. nick schuessler look up his video. i would be happy if we were to offer and get him. or if we could flip cyler miles. dont think hes happy with the coaching change at washington.

  39. hogwildhogfan hogwildhogfan says:

i thought it was said on here…im not really sure if he is or isn’t just thought i read that on here a couple weeks ago.

  40. boubalos boubalos says:

According to Richard, a few weeks ago, Arkansas can still count back like always. That being the case, we can sign 27, counting the two JC guys.

  41. hogwildhogfan hogwildhogfan says:

What about Smith does that open up enough another signing spot for us??

  42. georgiahog georgiahog says:

mrc005: I live close to Scheussler. His team won the state and dominated all year. They pounded the running game, but when they threw the ball is was long bombs right on target. I think he runs s 4.5 forty too! I bet if there is a slot left on signing day, he gets it.

  43. mrc005 mrc005 says:

i hope its 4 juco guys. flynn, gardner, winston, and pennel. but i looked at pennels twitter stuff and apparently the reason he decommited was because of SEC academic requirements. so he doesnt know if he will fulfill them by next fall.

  44. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

There will more than likely be a suprise or two on NSD, just like always. ;)

  45. mrc005 mrc005 says:

georgiahog: yeah, he looks like a stud who has flown under the radar. i hope if we take a qb, its him he looks better to me than pike, millweard, sudfield, or gregory. but i cant get over how young he looks. haha. he looks 12.

  46. News Carver News Carver says:

Nice list Georgiahog attempting to account for some of the various combinations that this class could take on, but you are the 1st person to post that Gardner would only sign if DGB didn’t. I’ve seen nothing to indicate that to be the case, so if you have anything to back that up, I would like to see it. Plus we’ve got talented WRs already enrolled. If he was scared of not being good enough, we would be the last team he would consider.

Great receivers need great receivers on the other side of the field in order to be fully productive, otherwise they get double-teamed too often.

  47. georgiahog georgiahog says:

mrc005: On Scheussler looking young … can you say Tom Brady! Also, on your comment about “how this will work” … I think we are the only ones in the dark. The recruits talk to the coaches before signing day and let them know one way or the other. For example on the 247 board, Diamond said he was going to announce on signing day but would tell the coaches on Jan 31st. Maybe we could tap the coaches phones!!!

  48. nchog123 nchog123 says:

I totally agree with georgiahog about Scheussler. He is not polished as the only pattern his team basically has is “go long”. But, he can really throw it and runs very well also. With Walker leaving, it scares me to only have three scholarship QBs. You always want a QB in every class because it is not a position where you can switch players into if there is a need like we have done with Colton Miles-Nash between TE and DE. On that subject, I hope we leave Colton at one position this year. I believe he has a chance to start or at least be in the rotation at DE. By the way, if we could add Pennel and another JC player they both could “count back” against Walker and Smith. I forget for who now but Flynn counted back.

  49. georgiahog georgiahog says:

News Carver: I definitely don’t have any inside info! I was getting so confused by all of the activity and couldn’t seem to make sense of the strategy and how we could fit in all of these awesome recruits. So I tried to read between the lines using all the things being said on the boards and articles.

On Courtney, the only thing i remember lately about him was a comment he made before going on two visits saying he was still a Hog. But no new news since then that I can find. I hope we get him !! The dudes a stud. It gets hard to see how this all fits, but what an awesome problem! WPS !!!

  50. nchog123 nchog123 says:

Forgot! Why is Diamond waiting until Friday Feb. 3rd to announce? What is the significance of that when NSD is Wed. Feb. 1? I am sure we would have a spot for him, but it would seem that after a year or more of weighting your decision you could sign a NLI on Feb. 1.

  51. musiccityhog musiccityhog says:

    Tyler Nero cancelled his visit

  52. chazgray chazgray says:

mrc005: Winston isn’t a JUCO guy though! And I think we only need to sign 2. Flynn (already enrolled) and Gardner. That’s it. Santos, Diamond, Goodman, Jacobs, Ascolese and DGB is who I would like to see. I also don’t know about Collins or Gibson, but they seem like 2 that would end up elsewhere.

  53. nchog123 nchog123 says:

    FORGOT PART II
I am really excited about next weekend as well. Brian Nance, Tyler Nero, and Edward Pope are three four star players plus two commits coming to The Hill! Go Hogs Go!

  54. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

Soooooo many options…..good problem to have IMHO. 8)

  55. mrc005 mrc005 says:

chaz: sorry meant demetrius wilson, not winston. my bad. im thinking if we get more DB’s that collins or gibson would lose their spots also. if we get neal, i think we lose hawkins. if we pick up two more lb’s i think we lose thomas. this of course is all speculation, but with the talent that we are on here late, i think some peoples schollies will be pulled.

  56. chazgray chazgray says:

Forget Pennel, just forget him! And Nero did what?!? Gahhh, man I really wished he would at least taken a visit! We have so much tradition in having generations of Hogs and it would have been AWESOME if he would have continued it. Oh well…

  57. mrc005 mrc005 says:

musiccity: where did you see that. i just saw where his visit got pushed back until the 27th instead of this weekend.

  58. musiccityhog musiccityhog says:

Poster on another site that is personal friends with Nero (and a big hog fan). He has reported accurately many things about his recruitment for two years. He said he cancelled his visit.

I never thought Id see us have a class with no DTs, not to mention no QB either. Crazy.

  59. mrc005 mrc005 says:

rivals and 24/7 both have him as visiting next weekend, plus richard said he was too. he is listed as soft on rivals.

  60. musiccityhog musiccityhog says:

This Nero news just hit today. Those sites have him listed from well before today. He will not visit here next weekend.

  61. razorback roger razorback roger says:

Nero does not want to play for Arkansas. He is from Alabama. He is an Auburn fan plain and simple. It is time to move on and let the kid play for that bunch of crooks. Not saying he is a crook…just the people around Auburn. Unless someone can totally convince me otherwise…I will always believe that Auburn is dirty to the core

  62. mrc005 mrc005 says:

music: well i hope he changes his mind if that poster is right.

  63. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Uhhh…I think we definitely need to wrap up Gardner. I think he could actually play the slot if need be because of his quickness. Having Cobi and DGB as the Wideouts and Gardner and whoever else in the slots…and Knile in the backfield…and Tyler under center…would be very very very potent.

So come on Courtney…stay with us man!!!! Come for the ride!!

  64. mrc005 mrc005 says:

they just adjusted his visit date on wednesday. the day he rescheduled. not trying to argue with you, but 24/7 is really on top of their stuff. if he has canceled, he hasnt informed them. they would have changed it.

  65. mrc005 mrc005 says:

roger, i will move on when he signs with them, thanks.

  66. mrc005 mrc005 says:

on pennel: he just messaged me and said, he took his core classes online and the SEC requires them to be taken in class. so he doesnt have time to retake them. thats why he had to decommit. i think its hurting him with other conferences too. looks like others have pulled off of him. that sucks for him.

  67. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Well I hope the kid comes for his visit next week. It wouldn’t surprise me though if Auburn threatens him with pulling his schollie if he makes a visit up here. That would scare the young man who has done nothing but take Auburn visits since the 9th grade and wouldn’t know what Arky had to offer him in the first place.

But again…hope he comes to take a look.

  68. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

He could take 12 hours during the summer in Fayetteville couldn’t he?

  69. mrc005 mrc005 says:

orjioke: just said haynes will make an in home with him on thursday. must be some shot there.

  70. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Or I guess he would need that prior to accepting the offer wouldn’t he. Hahaha…I’m so stupid.

  71. mrc005 mrc005 says:

hogen: before he can transfer here on schollie, i think he would have to pass them. so he could take 12 i suppose but he would have to pay for them and i dont think he could practice until he did.

  72. razorback roger razorback roger says:

mrc005 sorry I did not mean to come across rudely. I guess I am just resigned to the fact that if a kid wants to play for Auburn….I have to say ok..go play for them. I will move on, I understand your rationale however.

  73. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

I think Orjioke will be hard to sway though. He’s already tweeting people at UCLA about going out when he gets there.

  74. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Orrrr….he could “pay for them”….yeah…that’s it..nod nod wink wink!!!

    Just kiddin’!

  75. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

    Just kiddin’ NCAA!!!

  76. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Hey Richard…What’s this crap from Volquest saying that Santos has already told them that he’s NOT going to be a HOG???

    Any validity to this??

  77. mrc005 mrc005 says:

Roger: no prob. I was frustrated because someone else was got on my nerves on here earlier. I certainly understand inside info. But our coaches seem to be hitting the road hard. Unlike previous years I think we have such a huge amount of info that we aren’t caught by surprise A’s much A’s years past.

  78. Bigfoot bigfoot says:

mrc005, re: Pennel. If Pennel took his “core” classes on line, why can’t he reschedule them for his spring semester and summer. During my Senior year, I took 9 hours during the summer, but I didn’t have preseason conditioning to worry about, nor working around a practice schedule either. But is Mike takes maybe six extra hours from that core this spring, then gets 6 hours from the first summer semester, he would have met the requirements to transfer in.

I would dearly love to have him, as a JUCO transfer.

  79. mrc005 mrc005 says:

He has a full load to take this spring so he wouldn’t be able to retake all of his core classes too.

  80. hogwildhogfan hogwildhogfan says:

has anyone heard anything on DGB?

  81. Bigfoot bigfoot says:

mrc005, my memory is that once a course is completed and a grade higher than a “D” issued, you can not retake the class for a grade, nor credit. This by itself would cause a problem.

I really hate to see this type of thing place a limit on a kid. Didn’t the school do some counseling with him on this? Why did this fall through the cracks?

  82. redleg redleg says:

DGB, Santos, Diamond, Simon, Neal, and either Hankins or Harper. That would round-out this class in an impressive way.
Scout, com already has Arkansas current crop for 2012 ranked at #13. If Petrino & Co could get these other guys it would absolutely be a Top 10 recruiting class!

  83. hogwildhogfan hogwildhogfan says:

I like how Petrino recruits…he gets the guys that fit inot his system and what he needs..other schools just go after talent but if the talent doesn’t fit your style of play its just a waste if you ask me.

  84. alabamahog alabamahog says:

My respect for DGB grows by the day. Like everyone, I’ve known he’s a great player, but it takes a man with strong character to keep his thoughts and decisions quiet. Most young men like to brag. It takes strong willpower not to. He said that he would let everyone know his decision on signing day and evidently that is what will happen. I’ve spoken with the Santos family a few minutes ago and they said the Arkansas visit went well. “Arkansas put their best foot forward,” was what they told me. With that said, they did let me know that Arkansas won’t be where Dalton attends college. Now the question becomes, will they take a visit next weekend? At this point, I don’t see them visiting Georgia, Ohio State, or Texas A&M.

But as a passing thought, it does perplex me that Santos would go for the Vols. He has the chance to play for a national contender. Maybe there is a family tradition/connection thing there like the guy that went to Auburn because his family did. If Santos goes to the Vols I wish him well except when they play the Hogs.

Yeah musiccity I asked about that earlier but Richard didn’t respond. I actually got it earlier off of Richard’s twitter where one of the Vol nation media people tweeted it to Richard. When I had gone to that Vol media members site…he had gotten this from one of the writers from that Vol site who apparently had talked to Santos and his family.

I had asked Richard earlier in this thread if this was correct to no avail.

Alright I’ve got a question for you Bozos.

Do you think 20-11, 8-8 is good enough for the Hogs to get into the NCAA tournament???

We are 14-5. We have 6 home games and 6 away games left. All we have to do is hold serve at home and this would be our record. Does that get us in??

Now we have some good teams coming into our house but if we can handle Michigan in there then we should be able to win against Vandy, Florida and Bama…although those will be some very very tough games. We have to hold serve here…HAVE TO.

    What yall think??

  121. stnorm stnorm says:

Hogen-daz……There is no way the B-Ball Hogs make the tournament with exactly ZERO road wins. The days of “20 wins get you in” are gone. And….I would expect to drop a home game somewhere along the way to FL or Bama. I think they need 7 or 8 more wins…..maybe 5/6 home wins and 2 road wins and maybe a win in the SEC Tourney. That would be 21/22 wins and a 10 wins in conference. BUT again……I would say the chances of getting in with no road wins is NONE. The NCAA has gone to rewarding teams with quality wins/scheudle/road record as opposed to just looking for that magic number.

  122. tawtam tawtam says:

stnorm, let me tell you something. Don’t call me out about who I know. I posted who I know. I am not going to mention the coaches name but I will say he used to coach in the SWAC and he is a coach in Port Arthur TX. As a matter of fact at one time he was an assistant at UAPB. You posted I don’t have any inside information. Well, I guess the coach that knows him is not inside information the. Don’t call me out again about what I know and don’t know. I don’t ever posts about things I don’t know or I wouldn’t post it.

  123. spud spud says:

Assuming the 8 & 8 you referenced …. If we go 2-1 in the conference tournament, then we’re 22-12 and we’re in. If we lose the first round, then we’re 20-12 and we’re not in. I have no guess as to wwhat happens if we go 1-1 in the tournament and end up 21-12.

  125. Platinúm Jesús Platinúm Jesús says:

I think we would need to win at least one road game & have a winning conference record to make the tourney, that is if they do win out at home. Winning a game or two in the SEC tourney wouldn’t hurt either. Really hard to tell at this point though, so it could be possible with your scenario hogen. Although I don’t see a selection committee picking a team with no road wins…

  126. doubledpt doubledpt says:

Coming down to the wire, we as fans need to keep our cool. Too much reactionary anger to rumor and twitter chatter. Nero, Santos, etc, have been presented with the gospel of Razorback nation. The sales pitch is clear. The reverend BP has laid all of the facts on the table. It makes perfect sense to us, what decision is there really? Best confrence, best QB, best coaching, best chance at a national tital run, and a state that adores it’s Hogs, past, present, and future. If given all of the tools to make an informed decision, they still can’t see the light, then it wasn’t meant to be. I will never forget talking to Keihl Frasier’s Mom at the state championship game last year (lovely lady) and thinking to myself Keihl is really going to regret this decision some day. “Some day” was this season. There is nothing quite as sad as seeing the dejected look on an athlete’s face when he realizes “I could have been a Hog”.

  127. mrc005 mrc005 says:

    Man we need some updates!

  128. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Yeah the Ole Miss game was a big loss for us. Definitely a game we should have gone into more prepared and won. That could make the difference but we will see.

I think we have a shot ON the road against Georgia…who is struggling this year and Auburn. Tenn doesn’t have a very good record right now but Stokes has given them a boost and they are playing well and did beat UCONN at home. So that sounds like trouble.

But luckily…we get our hardest East teams at home from here on out.

  129. musiccityhog musiccityhog says:

no joke, very surprised at the lack of updates following the biggest recruiting weekend we have ever had.

  130. razorback roger razorback roger says:

  131. razorback dude razorback dude says:

Kiehl would never admit “He wish he was a Hog’”

  132. skezell skezell says:

Yeah, 20 wins is no longer the magic number. People look at RPI, conference affiliation, and road wins. We need to keep winning at home and win about three on the road, then we MIGHT get. Unfortunately, the SEC does not the get the benefit of the doubt, even though we hold our own in nonconference games. Most experts say we’ll get five in at most. There’s Kentucky, Florida, Vandy, MSU, Alabama, and now Tennessee (with Stokes) and Arkansas in that pool. We have to beat Tennessee, Florida, and split with Alabama; we also need to win a game or two in the SEC tourney. Otherwise, they’ll them over us because of RPI and perception. Still a long way to yet, though. I’ll be happy with the NIT this year as long as we continue to show improvement.

  133. ima hawg ima hawg says:

If Santos is being courted by Texas then he is likely a Longhorn. Nero just doesn’t really want to go to Arkansas I don’t think. This UA basketball team plays hard, but I don’t think 8-8 in the SEC will get them in the NCAA. ESPN, brought to you by Home Depot, doesn’t even have our recruiting class in the Top 25. But I think we will look back and see that this is a very good class. Especially with the 5 or so we are about to add.

  134. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Well Roger I’m not aging well at all. I used to have a 6-pack. Now I just have the Keg!! Oh and on that note….mmmmm smothered steak sounds good!!

A good NFL game is always a good dessert after a meal like that!!

  135. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

No way Tenn gets in. They are 9-10 and have some very difficult road games left. And their RPI right now is in the 160′s. So they have some HUGE mountains to climb.

  136. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Ark has an RPI of around 64 right now. What’s usually that number that if you are below it you are usually in?? 40 RPI??

  137. stnorm stnorm says:

Tawtam…..I didn’t call you out about anything….I made fun of you for posting on EVERY PAGE, NUMEROUS TIMES that you knew Trey Williams was solid to A&M and then after he said as much, you had to come on and post something the equivalent of “I told ya so”. You were the one calling people out for still holding out hope we might get him.

WE GET IT DUDE, you know his coach…ok….good for you. Congrats on that. But the fact is that you were giving info that ANYONE could have found on numerous sites. ALL of them saying TW was solid to A&M, so it’s not like you were breaking news.

I will post whatever I want, the same as you and everyone else. So take your anger somewhere else.

  138. skezell skezell says:

I only mention Tenn because of their win against UConn. The talking heads LOVE UConn so that win will get them buzz, whether they deserve it or not. The hill we have to overcome is not only individual, but conference. In the past few years, the selection committee determines the total number of “deserving” teams from each conference by its conference RPI. The SEC might be getting better, but it’s usually pretty low, plus we have a reputation as the “Kentucky, then everyone else” conference. Anyway, the guy from CNNSI, Glockner I think is his name, thinks the SEC will get five…Arkansas was not even mentioned as a possibility, but that was before yesterday’s game.

I was just merely posting so people wouldn’t get their hopes up. There is no sense in having false hope. I also wanted to point out that I am not one of those people who make up things and post them. I have been around sports all my life and used to work for an agent out of Dallas for a little while. Doesn’t mean I know everything. But if I post it, you can guarantee it is true. I do have a relationship with a lot of coaches and the owner of this site knows me if I told him my real name. I was just a little disturbed that someone believed that I was not telling the truth. Call it pride or whatever. When I post something, it is true. The other part of me just doesn’t like the idea that a school invites a kid knowing full well he is never going to change his mind. I feel like it is a waste of Univ. money and time that could be spent on someone we have a better chance of getting. Didn’t mean to sound upset but if there is one thing that I pride my self in is my integrity. I share opinion too like everyone else but if I say it comes from someone I know, you bet your bottom dollar its true.

  187. chazgray chazgray says:

Well, it may seem like today was a negative day, but when you really look at it, the positives clearly outweigh what we lost today. So what Trey didn’t flip to us, we didn’t expect him to or need him to anyway! And so what Nero doesn’t want to become the next best thing here in AR and follow footsteps! Also, it would be great to have Santos and the other 2 he’s considering are 2 of the teams I hate more on this earth than anything, but we’ve got a shot. And you know what?! I LOVED reading about our team unity/chemistry already for these kids that are excited and super passionate about being SOLID to the Razorbacks, for life! It also frees up room for DGB, Goodman, Diamond, Ascolese and Jacobs! So all in all, this weekend was GREAT! Hope everyone has just as good of a week!

  188. skezell skezell says:

To add to what chazgray said, four years ago the kids of this caliber aren’t even THINKING of visiting Arkansas. It’s baby-steps with recruiting. This year, we’re getting visits from blue chippers with some commitments (hopefully). Next year, with another solid season, we’ll get more exposure and visits. And we already have some solid players committed.

Oregon is opening next season against ark state! If Kelly leaves ark state has a chance to beat them. This could propel a state. Or if Kelly leaves is Gus malzahn the best candidate to take the job he would then play a team he just quit. Lol.

HEY MUSICCITYHOG…….Before you go throwing out the “I told you so” about Nero…..weren’t you also the one who said that you “spoke to the Santos family” and “they were telling anyone who would listen that he was not coming to Arkansas”?????……..Cause I guess Richard isn’t “anyone who will listen”….since they told him Arkansas is still in the running and in his top 3.

  203. ccfarmer ccfarmer says:

I have always been irritated with players waiting until the final minute on Signing Day. Case in point–Chris Barnett/TE last year and look what he did to us. Everyone knows months in advance when the signing date is. Now we have a trend of announcing DAYS after that date whether 3rd or 10th? All of the coaches are juggling to make room and this is a case, in my opinion, of getting jerked around. Am i missing something? Is there a real reason to announce this late? this will leave others, who want to commit, hanging.

  204. News Carver News Carver says:

In some cases I think they are arranging to tell the coaches of their decision before signing day and then just announcing to the public on signing day, that way the disappointed coach has a chance to go after the next best player before that player commits.

  205. mrc005 mrc005 says:

To me it seems like ego or indecisiveness. I think ego because everyone will be like oh there’s this top recruit we can’t wait to see where he signs. Then again I can see the other because maybe a kid doesn’t know who to chose and he let’s his final schools weed themselves out. Out of his top 5, 4 don’t wait to see, so he chooses the one that’s left. I don’t like it, especially for us or other teams in the sec, because it can put us in a bind, if we don’t fill all our needs and we can’t count back freshmen the next year. I wish they would change that. Keep the 25 limit, but let us count back up to three freshmen.

  206. stnorm stnorm says:

RIvals doesn’t show too many articles for free…but this is a good one about this weekends recruits and the impresson Cowan and Ward got from Diamond, Santos and DGB. I really like the part about Diamond asking for Wards hat because he “needed to have it on the table” when he selects a school.

  207. jviking jviking says:

I wish we had gotten a DT, but am fine with not getting a QB. We have 3 right now. We really didn’t recruit any QBs really hard. To me, that means that the coaches think we will be just fith with the two we have. I think we will get flipping from this weekend (or uncomitted eventually committing) DGB, Diamond, and Santos but I think we will lose out on Neal. Even though DGB is a freshman, I feel good about Gardner, Hamilton, DBG, and Wade as four wides next year. That is nasty good with lots of young ones waiting in the wings!!!

  208. PK PK says:

    speaking on DTs…

looks like Grady Ollison & Austin Beck are still playing OT.

Coach BP said the “Beck might be the most talented of the young OL..”

we’ll see how it all shakes out, but I could imainge seeing some shuffling depending on numbers, but that’s how it stands at this point.

    was he redshirted last year?

  213. artex artex says:

    Im 99% sure he was

  214. hogwildhogfan hogwildhogfan says:

thanks for the info….i sure wanted to see him as a wideout.

  215. artex artex says:

Ya me too, but with his ability to cut, his size, speed, and hands he should work out nice anywhere he is put on the field

  216. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

I’m glad we’re in Dalton Santos’s top 3, but like the ‘ol Grench once said,….. “I LOOAAATH TEXAS!!!”

Anyway, I’m still glad we’re top 3 material. A few years back, we were nothing more than a mere after thought to some of these kids.

  217. oldhog oldhog says:

All I have to say is the hogs keep getting bigger, faster and stronger. CBP has it going on and the hogs are fun to watch. The numbers will work out in eight days.
