I know DGB has been on campus enough to know what it is like, but I just really would like to see him on an O visit, just for the record. I don’t think we live or die by his decision, but he has to go somewhere, so why not with his best opportunity – US.
Man, what a list. Our recruiting is definitely on the upswing. No wonder we are getting serious national champion buzz. Look at our prospects.
this might be our most vital recruiting weekend EVER!!
Be nice if we had a big crowd outside the Catfish Hole to call the Hogs before they even get inside the doors.Make it a pep rally. How about a parade with red and white confetti all the way to the stadium. How about the mayor, the governor…..sorry. Let’s just be sure to give them a warm Razorback Welcome.Go Hogs
See there, Gary Simon jumped on board when he heard about the parade.
This year, National Signing Day falls on birthday. I have a feeling it’s going feel like everyone’s birthday on here.
dakotahog, funny stuff.
And I agree this is the most significant recruiting weekend ever for the U of A. There were regimes where we didn’t see this many quality athletes. Whether we sign zero or all (and I believe we get our fair share), this is a very positive change from where we’ve been historically.
What you got in your big old bag this year Santa, HUMMMMM! Oh, I got Dalton, and Dorial, and Jordan, and Trey, and Demetrius, and Davonte, and a host of already committed Razorbacks. I’ll take those 6 and Pennel, Nero, and three linebackers, Santa!
If DGB, Dalton Santos and Jordan Diamond were the last 3 commits we landed in this class, I’d be one happy man.
John Gibson is the only commit without a scheduled visit.
What a weekend for our program!! I feel very positive about our recruiting, and I expect to see excellent results on signing day.
If each of us on this board would bring in one recruit (like Dakota did with Simon) we could fill our roster in no time! Dakota has raised the bar guys, we need to get off our butts. Did Dokata get a raise like the rest of the staff? He should! (LOL… Good stuff Dakotahog)
Richard,
On a serious note, did Nero visit last weekend, he’s not on this list? If so, how did it go?
Ralot: it shows on recruiting websites he is visitning the 27th now.
Thanks, mrc, i thought i had missed something. Sounds like he’ll have the coaches to himself.
When do Classes resume?
Richard, word on the rivals blog is there’s another “mystery recruit” coming as well who’s currently committed to another school. True?
Richard, I hope you realize that we are going to need updates every 5 minutes this weekend. RazorRandy said he’ll pay you a nice bonus to keep us all in the know.
Nero is going to Auburn.
Max: classes started Tuesday.
just saw a post on espn saying that chris humes did commit to arkansas
Three-star cornerback Chris Humes (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) has committed to Arkansas after an official visit this past weekend, the Birmingham News reports.
“I committed on the spot. When we were about to depart, I met with coach (Bobby) Petrino, coach (Paul) Haynes and coach (Kevin) Peoples. My mom was in there and we talked about me coming to Arkansas. I was like, I really want to come to Arkansas and they really wanted me there so we sealed the deal on Sunday Morning.”
Mike, even as late as five years ago, I would have agreed with you that a commit like Nero was going to the school he had already committed to for so long. But, I have never seen as much switching as goes on now. Nero is suppose to come on the 27th-29th. That means the last thing he hears is WPS-we need you-carry on the family tradition. If momentum goes our way, it could happen.
Chris Humes committed on the spot during his visit. Not sure how I feel about that yet. Kinda think there are better players to get, even a better corner that’s committed to Mizzou but chooses between us soon. Hmm, we’ll see how it all works out for the best I hope!
Stewart Mandel (of CNNSI.com) tweeted that Gary Pinkel took a helicopter to Springfield to do a home visit with DGB. Speaks the high stakes of recruiting and might smack of desperation a bit with his visit to Fayetteville on the horizon.
Chaz: what are u basing which one is better on? Both 3 star. Both 5’11″ + 175 +
If Razor Randy will pay me a bonus of $200, I will sit here and give updates every five minutes…of course I need the money by friday morning Randy. ; )
A realistic list:
DGB
Jordan Diamond
Chris Humes
Santos???? only because he will get time immediately on a chamionship contending team
Will Humes….Ray Jr. asked him earlier how his OV went and he sent him a private message..good news i think
Seth Jacobs
Harper or Harding maybe both
VA….think we’re a sure lock for him
And those are the ones we’re going to have to make room for thats not on the 21 list thats already committed. But everyone should agree I’d rather have a problem with getting too many than not getting enough and having to take whatever we can get….GREAT TIME TO BE A HOG….WPS
Humes is a player, plus he’s amped to be a hog.
plenty good enough for me, and should be enough for everyone on the blog.
Somebody told me yesterday that Tim Horton says that we only have 19 commits. That could mean that at least 2 more commits are not going to qualify and we could actually have 6 spots to fill. Just something to think about.
Might be a good thing cause we probably going to get better players than the ones that can’t come.
Pork: maybe he meant 19 freshman commits. If we have 21 total counting the juco’s we still have 6 left. Juco’s don’t count towRds the 25.
I also heard that we have 1 or 2 that weren’t eligible and are going to have to take the juco route.
The mystery recruit that’s commited to another school might be a recruit that’s commited to TCU. I heard them talking about him today but can’t remember his name but he’s supposed to be a last minute decision to come for a visit.
And then of course…there’s a 99% chance I have no idea what I’m talking about!
Nope…I think it’s Pope…who Richard has as coming for a visit. So once again…I have no idea what I’m talking about. Or I’m a day late and a dollar short. Or both.
I’m betting on both.
What’s interesting is that on 247 Sports it says that Pope is being recruited by….Bobby Petrino. No other names…which is odd. Or maybe it isn’t. I don’t know. I’ve never really seen Petrino’s name directly labeled to someone as their lead recruiter before but that doesn’t mean very much. I’m not that observant.
I think the secret visitor is Otha peters.
Thanks mrc005 for the info.
I like the way you’re thinkin’ mrc
Hogwild I would be fine with that list even without Santos. If he comes that is fine but he is the one I the most doubt about coming to Arkansas.
That is true….but about Ortha Peters i saw a tweet saying he told his high school coach to tell us to leave him alone..idk how true it is though.
We’ve all focused on how many scholarships we have left to offer based on the 25 per year rule, but after someone on here mentioned that we signed 32 last year, I looked at our roster and counted for sure 65 and I think it was 66 players that will return next year that are on scholarship.
How are we not limited by the 85 total schlorship rule??
To me, recruiting seems like an activity full of a lot of complicated rules that no one follows, or that are so full of loopholes that the rules are meaningless.
Whatever, just so we have a way to get everyone we want that wants us.
Otha Peters is visiting next weekend. No secret.
Juco’s count towards the 25 unless they enroll early which only 1 has. The reason it is 19 is because Flynn counts back and Cobb did not qualify.
I think the football nation as a whole is realizing we are becoming a force to be messed with especially cause we are soooooo deep and young at every position and the more talent we get it really helps Petrino develop these new comers and not have to just throw them to the wolves in this horrific SEC.
I’ve heard Cyler Miles (?) QB committed to some school on the West Coast as being the silent visitor.
News carver My Nephew sent me a text asking about Cyler Miles today . He is suppose to be a Good QB prospect. Rumors have it he has decommitted from Washington.
No, Horton said 19 commits. JUCOs count against the 25. The reason they haven’t counted in the past is that we still had room from the previous class and “counted them back”. We signed 32 last year. Dean didn’t make it and Gosha quit. We still brought in 30. We have no room to count back. Flynn counts as a 2012 commit.
News Carver, the only way to stay at 85 is to make room. Some kids will transfer for playing time. Some kids will not have their scholarship renewed. As the saying goes, “the numbers work themselves out.”
I a strongly point to it being rumors.
It shows on 247 that he’s still a commit. But that would be interesting. He’s the cat that was throwing to DGB in the All American game wasn’t he?? Sounds like he put on a show in that game.
We offered Miles early and he was interested, possibly were in his Top 10. He and DGB hit it off at the Army game. I heard a rumor that Miles said he thought DGB was headed to Arkansas. Maybe DGB convinced him to visit.
would be a nice steal

Who wouldn’t put on a show throwing him the ball…..lol
Hmmm remember the Alabama player that was arrested?
Well, the lad was arrested right down here , where I reside.
such a fine upstanding young man he is .
Dre Kirkpatrick, cornerback ….arrested for smokin wackie tahbackiee
Make that Top 5
http://recruiting.arpreps.com/2011/04/28/arkansas-in-top-5-for-colorado-qb/
Sounds like a Brandon Mitchell with more publicity.
We have 22 total commits counting Humes. The other 21 are:
Flynn, Williams, ward, turner, Johnson, wise, Holmes, Cowan, Roberts, Hawkins, Lowe, sprinkle, Boyd, Collins, Gibson, Lewis, buchanon, Thomas, Winston, hatcher, Gardner.
I could see us maybe losing Hatcher, Thomas or Collins….just depends on who we get to sign on NSD.
I don’t think we loose Thomas. If we lose some, I think it’s winston, Gardner, and hatcher.
Man Feb 1st can’t come soon enough!
We haven’t accepted Humes’ commitment. Got a 4 star safety visiting.
At the end of the day we’re going to take the top 25 players.
Meprfct: which safety u talking about, Simon, pope, Orijoke, or someone else?
who is the 4 star safety
Will Hines just decommitted from Missouri.
Jordan Moore.
where did u see that?
About Hines.
Jonathan Williams justsaid the same thing about Hines!
powermizzou.com is reporting it. It’s also all over Twitter. Shortly after decommitting he sent a direct message to Ray Buchanan and began tweeting back and forth with Jonathan Williams.
WPS! Will Hines has decommitted from Mizzou! It is all over twitter now. I thought something might be up when earlier he tweeted that “that was the hardest thing I have ever had to do”. This is a BIG pick up if he now commits to us. This is a kid that could play right away. Very talented!
Nevermind I just saw it.
Wow, if it’s Miles that would be huuuge. Him and DGB would make for the best QB-WR recruiting duo in the country. With TJ Milweard committing to UCLA, and still no offer for Schuessler, maybe they’re holding out for Miles. Seems like a long-shot though…
Says he will announce where he’s going Friday.
Jordan Moote is the 4 star safety.
Make that Moore.
what is there to announce it was between us and mizzou…..he decommitted from mizzou SOOOOOOOO that means one thing….WWWWWWPPPPPSSSSS
Who is Jordan Moore?
A safety from GA that had committed to TCU

**********************************************************************
THAT was funny. In reality, I have to pay a bonus just for him to let me keep posting after he reads my crap!
hogwild: moore is uncommited. pope is committed to tcu.
Yeah I knew Pope from TCU. He would be a awesome get! S Pope, CB Hines, S Lowe and CB Buchanan would sure up our secondary for years to come!
