Not a good way to start.

  10. KMB90 KMB90 says:

Huge K for Astin 2 down with a runner at 3rd

  11. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    Nice K….one more!!

  14. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

We need a BIG crooked number.

  15. marcm marcm says:

Maybe I don’t need to listen to the game.

  16. KMB90 KMB90 says:

Bo and Carver both down on strikes. McCann bats with 2 outs.

  17. KMB90 KMB90 says:

McCann flies out center. Hogs go 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 1st.

  18. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    That was SWEET!!!!!!!!

  19. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    5-4-3 twin killing!

  20. KMB90 KMB90 says:

5-4-3 double play after a leadoff single. 2 outs

  21. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

I was hoping asu would be tired from swinging the bat too much against charlotte last night. Unforunately charlotte didn’t bean any of the asu hitters like I was hoping either.

  22. KMB90 KMB90 says:

3-0 ASU on an RBI double…

  23. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    they just went up 3 – 0

  24. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

3-0 ASU…we are playing like crap

  25. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

i really can’t stand this announcer

  26. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

marcm, if you have an iphone, you can download the app called iHog. They have a link to the radio broadcasts there. You have to be a Razorvision subscriber though to listen to the radio link.

  27. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

thank god…we’re out of the iinning

  28. KMB90 KMB90 says:

Inning over. 3-0 ASU after the top of the 2nd

  29. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

They should pull Astin for the next inning. He’s getting way too many hard licks against him….even the outs.

  30. marcm marcm says:

Ok thanks bgh and thanks for the updates hog fans.

  31. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

We need to answer back here

  32. KMB90 KMB90 says:

    Unbelievable…that ball was smoked

  33. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

The last two teams are killing Fic with that inside fast ball…with him batting righty.

  34. KMB90 KMB90 says:

Another 1-2-3 inning. We are gonna have to figure out this pitcher fast…

  35. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

3 up and down go the Hogs, 3-0 after 2

  36. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    1-2-3 go the HOGS….

they must’ve worn themselves out circling the basesin the heat against charlotte

  37. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

This guy was tough on us last year in Game 1 of the Super Regionals, got the win out of the pen

  38. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Nice play by Reynolds!

  39. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

Way to go, Chipper! I mean Reynolds.

  40. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Another loud out there to the warning track

  41. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

these fargin bastitches is shore arrogant, aint they?

  42. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Wow…. Great play there by McCann to dive for it, but those guys have to talk there.

  43. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    WHAT A CATCH!!!!

  44. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    we need HITS

  45. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

3-0 still headin to Hog half of 3

  46. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    LUMBERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

I would have chuckled if the asu guys would have all collided there.

  48. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Way to hustle Rice!!! Infield single with 1 away. Way to slide!

  49. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    GREAT HUSTLE!!

  50. KMB90 KMB90 says:

We have to get the ball in play. K’s are killing us.

  51. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

YES!!! Nice hit and run there! Way to go Bo!

  52. KMB90 KMB90 says:

Base hit for Bo! 1st and 3rd with 2 outs!

  53. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Come on Tim, lets get Rice home!

  54. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

Come on Carver, get him in!!!

  55. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Heads up there by Bo to take 2nd. 2 runners now in scoring position off the wild pitch

  56. KMB90 KMB90 says:

Bo moves up on the pitch in the dirt! 2nd and 3rd

  57. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Bases juiced!

  58. KMB90 KMB90 says:

Walk to Carver and the bases are loaded for McCann!!

  59. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    Yard Ball time!!!!!!

  60. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Come on McCann, go yard!

  61. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

    AARRRGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  62. KMB90 KMB90 says:

Crap!!! 2-0 count and McCann pops out to first base

  63. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Crap…. fly out ends it…. missed on a big opportunity there… we cannot miss on these

  64. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

I don’t freakin’ believe it. We can’t be stranding 100 runners this game to win.

  65. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

I don’t know if I can drink fast enough for this game!!

  66. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

    Use the ole Funnel Randy

  67. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Van Horn’s seen enough

  68. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    good change

  69. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

So have the rest of us

  70. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

I agree hogen-dazs, I was about to say the same thing. We can’t spot these guys anymore runs

  71. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Throw him out blue!

  72. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Daniel with a K!!!

  73. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    2nd K by Daniel! 2 away!

  74. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

i just got a look into the stands. what was the ncaa thinking by allowing this site to host?? Baum Stadium would’ve been sold out !!!

i’ll bet there would’ve been 5k+ for every single game!

  75. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

3-1 put out ends it. 3-0 still headin to btm of 4

  76. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Good inning for Daniel. WPS…now let’s get some freakin’ runs!!

  77. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Our bats need to get going here. Looks like we started to figure out this lefty some last inning, we need to knock him out now.

  78. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

That’s probably their best crowd this year!

  79. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

I’d say 5,000 plus. BUT when WE were playing, about 10 grand.

    NCAA is f’ing stupid.

  80. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Fic might as well just keep batting Left handed. He’s sucked as a righty and they’re not going to lay off the inside fast balls they’re chunkin at him.

  81. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Isn’t asu supposed to be on a post season ban? And the only reason that they are playing now is that they appealed it? So the NCAA rewards them by giving them a regional?

  82. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

If it was at Baum and we were playing in a regional, definitely 10k

  83. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Wow, so we haven’t figured this guy out any… 3-0 headin to the 5th.

  84. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

wow…we really are looking American Legionesque with our batting right now.

  85. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

Once again, we are trying to promote a pitcher to be the leading candidate for the next Cy Young Trophy.

  86. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    3rd K by Daniel! 1 away

  87. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

2 away with the fly to Kuhn

  88. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

SIT DOWN! Daniel with his 4th K! 3-0 headin to btm of 5

  89. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

    Way to go Daniel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now give him some freakin’ run support!!

  90. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

I like the way he’s came in and pitched. Aside from that one walk, he’s been great. Attacking the hitter and getting ahead in the counts. Keep it up!

  91. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

I may be crazy, but maybe HIT THE DAMN BALL!!!!!!!!!

  92. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Lead off single by McKinney! Let’s GO!!!!

  93. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

    finally…a leadoff guy on

  94. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

That was nice after getting behind 0-2.

  95. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Danggit, Rice goes down on a K, 1 away

  96. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  97. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    base running snafu

  98. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

We run the bases like CRAP!!!!!!!!

  99. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

    this is freakin’ disgusting.

  100. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Why do we do that?!?!?!?!?

Reynolds with a nice hit to left center, gets greedy and tries to take 2nd on it and gets thrown out by 10 feet…. Shoulda had runners on the corners w/ 1 out..

And we ground to short to end the 5th.

  101. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    WE SUCK!!!

  102. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

RR I hope you have a few more bottles handy.

  103. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

I don’t guess it would have mattered since that last one was a double play ball. But this is pathetic all around offensively.

  104. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

It would have been a DP ball, but you never know. They could of botched that and there is 1 across. I just don’t like it when we shoot ourselves in the feet. Don’t give them gifts like that.

  105. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    I’m concerned, I only have 1 & 1/2 left.

  106. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Loud out that got caught in the wind, 1 away in top of 6

  107. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

1 out single for asu, first hit given up by Daniel.

    Time for the DP

  108. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    time for a dbl play

  109. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    Definitely time for the DP.

  110. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

i’m starting to really dislike assizona state

  111. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Another single, runners on 1st & 2nd. 1 away still.

I’ll take that double play now

  112. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

How do you break a metal bat?

  113. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

    i can’t take this anymore.

  114. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    Yep, we suck!

  115. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Yea, this is getting bad..

Bases juiced now after runners move up to 2nd & 3rd off a wild pitch. Daniel then walks the guy on a full count.

    TIME FOR THE DOUBLE PLAY

  116. beasley beasley says:

    this is not looking good.

  117. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

3-0 count now on the next guy, no where to put him

  118. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

screw it, groove one for him.

  119. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

    Holy Crap

  120. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    That’s disgusting!

  121. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Bases loaded walk on a full count, 4-0 them.

  122. hatman7663 hatman7663 says:

we all knew we didn’t have quality pitching depth…

  123. marcm marcm says:

Guess I’m ready for some football!

  124. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Mercy!

Single off Bigham’s glove into center scores 1, 5-0 bases still juiced

  125. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

He needs to change his glove and get the one that doesn’t have a hole in it. He should have made that catch.

  126. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

Fire up your charter plane! Weak, very weak!

  127. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

2 run single, 7-0 now. Still 1 out.

    Daniel is getting pulled.

  128. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Suggs in now.

  129. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

BUT, I’ll be back next year to see what happens.

  130. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

That about sums it up, first pitch from Suggs is a wild pitch.

  131. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    8-0 after an RBI double. 2nd & 3rd w/ no outs…

  132. beasley beasley says:

Aint that a kick in the gonads.

  133. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

Go get on the plane before it leaves without you!

  134. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Finally the second out!!!!

    A K by Suggs.

  135. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    A 2 RBI single…..

10-0 now. Another shot off Bo’s glove.

  136. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Finally that is over. 6-3 put out ends the beating. 10-0 now.

  137. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

This is too embarrassing. NIGHT NIGHT on this one.

  138. beasley beasley says:

think i’ll watch in search of big foot on animal planet, but i know they want have anymore than the hogs

  139. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Carver draws a lead off walk to start the btm of 6. Now if we can bat around…

  140. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

McCann doubles down the left field line and drives in Carver, 10-1 now.

  141. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Fic goes down on a K, 1 down

  142. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Kuhn is rung up looking at a called 3rd strike.. 2 away

  143. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

1-3 put out off a come backer to the pitcher. 10-1 as McCann is stranded at 2nd

  144. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

Still watching, but STILL NOT LIKING!

  145. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Up 10-1 and they’re still running

  146. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

What the heck was all that?!?!

  147. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

11-1 now. A hit to Fic that SHOULD have ended the inning…

But it goes between his legs and trickles towards the foul line. He then picks up the ball and flicks it over his head and the pitcher’s head trying to cover… The runner scores from second off that. This hurts.

  148. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Suggs gives up a 2 out walk. 1st and 2nd.

We can’t get the outs, we can’t get the hits, tough night

  149. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

A 4 pitch walk by Suggs to juice the bases.

Van Horn is going to Lynch now.

  150. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    13-1 off a 2 RBI single. 1st & 2nd w/ 2 outs…

  151. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

13-1 headin to btm of 7.

    They’re treating us like Charlotte.

  152. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

McKinney has a standup triple to lead off the btm of 7

  153. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Rice down on a K, 1 away.

  154. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

McKinney scores on a wild pitch, 13-2

  155. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Reynolds with a 1 out single. This time he stops at 1st.

  156. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Bigham draws a walk, 1st & 2nd now, 1 away with Carver coming up.

    Pitching change for asu

  157. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Carver pops out to shallow center, 2 away

  158. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

McCann drives in his 2nd RBI with a single.

Runners at the corners with 2 out, 13-3

  159. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Fic is hit by a pitch, bases loaded w/ 2 outs and Kuhn is coming up.

  160. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Kuhn is hit by a pitch, he now holds the record, 53rd of his career.

13-4 now and bases are loaded still with 2 away. Pitching change unfortunately, I was starting to like this one.

  161. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    Robinson is up

  162. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

And he flies out to right… Bases left loaded for the 2nd time in the game.

    13-4 heading to the 8th.

  163. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Lynch gives up a lead off walk to start the 8th.

Next batter lines to Fic and he steps on the bag for the DP. 2 away

  164. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Pop fly to Carver retires the side, 13-4 heading to btm of 8

  165. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    New pitcher in for asu.

  166. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

    2379 in attendance

  167. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

McKinney fouls out to the RF, 1 away

  168. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Rice grounds out to short, 2 away

  169. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Reynolds down on a K, 13-4 headin to the 9th

  170. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Sanburn in to pitch the 9th.

  171. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Sanburn gives up a lead off walk on a 3-2 count.

Next batter flies out in foul territory to Reynolds. 1 away.

Sanburn erases the lead off walk by picking off the runner, 2 away.

  172. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Next batter swings and misses and goes down on a K…..but the ball gets by McCann and he reaches 1st.

  173. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Next batter singles to left. 1st & 2nd now. Still 2 away.

  174. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

2nd & 3rd now on Sanburn’s 2nd wild pitch. Just get this last out already

  175. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Chopper to Reynolds ends it, 5-3 put out. 2 stranded, 13-4 headin to btm of 9. Either a big rally or the end of the season.

  176. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Top of the order up for the Hogs. Bigham-Carver-McCann

  177. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Bigham is gone on the 6-3 put out. 1 away

  178. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Carver flies to the center fielder.

McCann due up in what is likely his last at bat.

  179. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Season is now over on the 4-3 put out. I hate losing like this, tough way to go out.

  180. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

13-4 final. Hogs wrap up at 40-22.

  181. Coach Coach says:

Rough way to end the season. Next year we lose Robinson for sure as he is the only senior. Probably McCann because he is one of the top catchers in the entire country.

We will be more experienced and add some arms to the pitching staff. Bax and Davenport will return. Stanek has become a good pitcher as well. Astin and Daniels will dominate as late relief guys.

Fic, Bo, Kuhn, Rice and Wise will be solid too. The future looks really bright. I think we will win enough games to host a Regional and Super next year , and the road to Omaha will go thru Fayetteville.

I know the season ended badly and it always does for every team except one. As a whole it was a really good season and nobody expected us to be here !

    I’m really proud to be a Hog Fan ! Go Hogs ! :P :P :P

  182. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

This tournament was lost the day Jeff Long summited the Hog bid to host a regional.

  183. Coach Coach says:

Jeff, I really like the way you support the Baseball team.

But the bashing of long needs to stop. Long is doing alot of really good things for the athletic program and you continue to bash him. Nobody is perfect. That includes Long, Petrino, Van Horn, Anderson and Bucknam. We all have faults and our priorities will seldom match another persons.

We as Arkansas fans are really on our way up the food chain and we are competitive in almost every sport.
Take a good look around at other programs and compare.

We start to look really good when you see USC with all their great players only won one NC in football in the 2000′s and had to cheat to do it. Ohio State has been cheating for years and the hits just keep a comin.

Notre Dame hasn’t been relivent for decades. Ticket prices across the country on the average are much, much higher than at Arkansas.

Winning is expensive and doing it the right way costs more than the wrong way. It’s taken 20 years since we joined the SEC to become what we are today. Be proud !

    Al least your not a buckeye fan … :) :) :)

  184. News Carver News Carver says:

    Ditto Coach

When you’re married and working and you want to continue to stay married and working, I haven’t figured out a way to have time for every pitch of baseball but I enjoyed the threads of the games on here so I at least had a clue of what was going on with the team. Thanks guys!

I scanned through this one faster than most, lol. Disappointment we didn’t advance further, but winning the West is a nice consolation.

  185. bigboi bigboi says:

OKOFCOURSE, How many runs did Jeff Long give up against ASU? You can’t blame Jeff Long for loses only crappy coaches and high ticket prices.

  186. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

If you are counting the runs given up @ Tempe in the second game the Hogs played that day in over 100 degree temperature then…..wait a minute…..let me do a little math….Mmmmmm…13.

  187. Coach Coach says:

LOL, 13 is unlucky any way you slice it. But I don’t know for sure how the bids are given and recieved, but ASU has a better record than we do (42-15) regardless of RPI ranking. ASU also has a better history in the Tourney than we do.

Arkansas fans need to know we have to be much better and not just a little better than other teams to gain the advantage or get the votes.

Like it or not, that’s the way it’s always been.

And all those twenty-eight hundred fans really enjoyed the game @ Tempe also.

  189. Coach Coach says:

That’s on the NCAA. Not Jeff Long. :) :) :)

  190. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

How do you know that? I say Long low bid the regional expecting to get it no matter what, the committee got pissed, and sent us to Hell’s kitchen (Tempe) as a # 2 seed punishing us for being so cheap.

  191. Coach Coach says:

Honestly Jeff, I don’t know the procedure for allocating Regionals. And since I don’t know I won’t blame Long until I know for sure.

But this I do know. It isn’t Longs fault we gave up 13 runs or only scored 4. And it isn’t Longs fault only twenty-eight hundred fans showed up in Tempe.

  192. fortsmithhog fortsmithhog says:

Dead bats or not you have to score runs in college baseball and we didn’t get it done (I’m sure this is Jeff Long’s fault also in some way). He single handedly paid the NCAA to vote on the BB ratio in the bats knowing our team would be in this position so he could low ball the regional bid and secretly destroy the baseball program from the inside out before he moves on to the basketball then football program!!! YES SARCASM, GIVE IT A REST AND GO WATCH SOME OLD FRANK BROYLES INTERVIEWS OR SOMETHING!! Long has done nothing but advance our program and our university since he’s been here. I see the $$ numbers every quarter and it’s a fact. Reading all of the Long conspirecy theories you rant about gets old..
Now hopefully the draft doesn’t wipe out the studs we have signed. Maybe next year we’ll have a little more experience and consistency.

  193. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

“He single-handedly paid the NCAA to vote on the BB ratio in the bats knowing our team would be in this position so he could low ball the regional bid”,,,,,”YES SARCASM”.

Oh Please fortsmithhog stop the humor…..You’re killing me….You’re killing me!!!! Where do you come up with them?

  194. fortsmithhog fortsmithhog says:

It sounds ridiculous doesn’t it!! Please take note..

  195. nchog nchog says:

    Hi Richard,
Any update on Seth Jacobs’ visit on Sunday?

  196. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

With the 13th pick in the draft the New York Mets select OF Brandon Nimmo out of Chyenne, WY and Arkansas commmit. BOOOO to the Mets! Nimmo did send a letter out to potential teams saying it would take $3MM to sign so this will be interesting to watch.

  197. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Ok, the Mets are getting on my nerves. With the 44th overall pick in the Compensatory round, the Mets take RHP Michael Fulmer out of Deer Creek HS in Oklahoma, the second Hog commit to be drafted. He’s touched 96 on the radar gun. He committed to the Hogs with another one of his teammates, sounds like he was excited to be a Hog, and this maybe a tough sign for the Mets. We’ll have to see.

And I don’t mean to hijack this board with the draft, but I was following it and just wanted to keep everyone informed of Hog commit and any current player news in the draft.

  198. razorrandy RazorRandy says:

    BRH, I appreciate the updates.

  199. Coach Coach says:

Thanks BRH, I Also appreciate the updates ! Any word on McCann ?

  200. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

    Good work BRH

  201. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

No word yet on McCann, or another that I’m concerned about, Dillon Howard a RHP out of Searcy. The draft continues today at noon or so. I won’t be following it as close since I do have to work. But Howard was projected late first round and he has slipped some, maybe good news for us.

  202. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Rounds 2-30 continue today at 11 CST, including the Compensatory B round between rounds 3 & 4. The Comp B round has only one pick in it this year courtesy of Ryne Stanek signing with us over Seattle in last years draft. Rounds 31-50 finish up tomorrow starting at 11 CST.

  203. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

I get a chuckle out of this. Look at the stadium in the background for Pac-10′s baseball website, it should look familiar…
    http://www.pac-10.org/Sports/Baseball.aspx

  204. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

With the 67th pick the Cleveland Indians select RHP Dillon Howard out of Searcy, Arkansas. Has a fast ball he can run to 95 mph, has good sink and run on it, a curve at 78-80 mph, and a good change up. I really wanted to see him in a Hog uniform.

  205. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

James McCann is slected in round 3 with the 76th pick by the Detroit Tigers

  206. Coach Coach says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose Stanek, McKinney and Kuhn to this draft as well. :(

  207. Coach Coach says:

Bo Bigham is also draft elegible as well.

  208. Coach Coach says:

If you want to know more about these players as well as future commitments go here:

  210. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Greg Bird goes in round 5, the #179th pick to the Yankees. He was a catcher prospect.

  211. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

In round 12, the 385th pick, the Cincinnati Reds take infielder Joseph Serrano out of Arizona. From what I’ve read, he has a really nice bat that would look good in our lineup if we can get him.

  212. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Hey Coach, we shouldn’t lose Stanek, he was a true freshman. I believe he’ll be a draft eligible sophomore though next year, so he’ll probably go then. But we should have him back as part of the rotation.

They’re in the 14th round, I’m surprised to haven’t seen Kuhn’s name yet. Going off of my bad memory, I thought he went in the 15th last year as a draft eligible sophomore.

  213. Coach Coach says:

From what I understand if a player is 21 then it doesn’t matter what class you’re in. I thought I heard Stanek just turned 21.

  214. Coach Coach says:

I feel bad for Kuhn. I know he passed up a chance to turn pro last year. He will need a big senior season to improve his stock.

  215. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

I think any kid can go if he turns 21 no LATER than 45 days after the draft.

  216. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

Or you have to at least FINISH your junior year

  217. hogen-dazs hogen-dazs says:

NBA needs to work this way IMO. Give them the option to turn pro out of High School…or if they choose to go to College make them stay until 21 or Junior year is over. That seems to work well for college baseball and keeps talent in school so it doesn’t get too watered down.

  218. Coach Coach says:

You are probably right about Stanek. I found this.

“Daniel, a third-year sophomore, is the only member of the group eligible for this week’s 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. It means Baxendale, Astin, Stanek, Moore, Suggs, Sanburn and sophomores Randall Fant and Cade Lynch could all return.”

  219. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

The Cincinati Reds also snatch Conor Costello in the 16th round, 505th overall pick. He was listed as a RF and not a pitcher though.

Collin Kuhn was taken in the 17th round, 531st overall pick by the White Sox. He’ll have a decision to make of staying or going. But if he has another similar year to this year, he may lose some signing leverage since he’ll be a senior next year.

Brian Anderson was taken in the 20th round, 628th overall pick by the Twins. He was a SS prospect out of Oklahoma, teammates of Michael Fulmer that was chosen earlier in the Comp round.

  220. GonzoHog GonzoHog says:

As long as the NBA allows elite high school talent to ambush the draft boards, we will continue to see the ever growing escapade of adolesant punks wallow in over-rated stardom in that league, just like Cobi and LeBron are doing right now.
No one likes an arrogant, self-entitled punk. These are the kind of folks the NBA has created and will continue to do so.
Nothing good will ever come from an 18 year old millionair…NOTHING.

  221. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Trent Daniel went in the 23rd round, #707 pick overall to the Detroit Tigers

  222. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Chris Oliver, a RHP out of Shiloh Christian and an Arkansas signee, went in the 28th round, the 815th pick overall to Baltimore

  223. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Senior Kyle Robinson was just picked up by the Chicago White Sox in the 28th round, pick #861.

  224. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Detroit Tigers select Greg Milhorn, RHP out of Texarkana, AR, with the 917th overall pick, 30th round

  225. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

And that is the end of the 30th round. Tomorrow closes the draft, rds 31-50. Nothing on McKinney yet, surprised since there was some buzz about his arm and his bat did come alive towards the end of the season. Nothing on Bigham yet either. Also surprised to not see Michael Gunn’s name, heard a lot of buzz about him, but it sounds like he wants to go to Arkansas, real solid LHP that wields a good bat, could be a pitcher/DH type player.

  226. Coach Coach says:

Thanks for all your updates BRH ! I guess we will find out in August what we will have for next spring.

Hopefully alot of these kids think they are worth more than MLB wants to pay ! :P :P :P

That’s probably the only time I think being greedy is a good thing. At least for our Hogs! ;) ;)

  227. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

I agree. I have a feeling we’re going to lose one of the two that were drafted by the Mets. Everything I’ve seen is that the Met’s really drafted Nimmo too high for his position, especially after the $3MM price tag he threw out. Then they turn around and draft Fulmer. I would think that they would definitely try to go after at least one of their top 2 draft picks, the question is will they have the $$$. And Kuhn has a really interesting decision. I think he goes unless he is just sure he could come back and have a monster year. If he comes back and has a similar year to this year, he will lose his leverage as a senior and will probably fall more. But your right Coach, we’ll have to wait until August to know how the pieces will fall. I hope these guys have the greed to be a Hog! Throw in a couple pitchers with the staff we have coming back, we should have a really good rotation. If we can get a couple good bats with these guys and get a couple to develop that is on the team to go with Fic, look out!

  228. Coach Coach says:

Other than losing to the draft I think my biggest concern is finding more offense. We finished last in the SEC in team BA. We have Jimmy Bosco who is redshirting this year and that will help some. A little more wouldn’t power hurt. And finally we need to find a couple of LHP Flame throwers who can give us some weekend starts. Call me greedy ??? Hahahaha :P :P :P

  229. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

GREEDY! I think we might get one in Gunn. You gotta like that name for a pitcher.

  230. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

The final round of the draft:
Rd# Pick # Name Position Team
31 940 Jarrod McKinney RF Houston Astros
43 1298 Geoffrey Davenport LHP Cleveland Indians
44 1351 Nevin Wilson LHP Phillies
46 1385 Mark Reyes LHP Baltimore Orioles
    49 1498 Drake Roberts 2B Minnesota Twins
50 1504 David Masters SS Arizona Diamondbacks

  231. batonrougehawg batonrougehawg says:

Bo Bigham was not drafted. Finally saw McKinney come off the board. Surprised to see Davenport’s name with his injury. Drake Roberts was ranked as the #91 prospect by Perfect Game, he fell to the 1498th pick because he really wanted to go to campus.
