A few tidbits I gathered while at media day.
Jatashun “Big Tex” Beachum reported at 313 lbs but has lost down to 286 and is looking to get to 260. Once he gets down to his goal weight, the sky is the limit for him. I did a Q&A with several freshmen and to no surprise Big Tex was considered by most as the entertaining newcomer. Shun has a great personality.
With it Petrino’sthird year, there’s little doubt the team is becoming an SEC looking squad. Strength and conditioning coach Jason Veltkamp told Bob Holt of the Arkansas Democrat -Gazette that he was very surprised at the lack of SEC looking athletes he first arrived on campus from Louisville. He believes the team has that SEC look.
The freshmen that pass the eye test include DL Byran Jones, OL Cam Feldt, LB Jarrett Lake, DL LaCraig Brown, TE Garrett Uekman, TE Brad Hefley, DE Chris Smith, S Daunte Carr and LB Braylon Mitchell.

I thought you guys were worried about his work ethic/laziness?
It should be noted it’s very good news that he’s down to 286 lbs., after first reporting in at 313. That’s what, 27 lbs. now? Freshmen do this sometimes. I say give him at least 2 years before we start making comparisons of him to Oliver Miller.
so apparently he did lose weight over the summer, but hes still got a ways to go, since he was slow in camp.
Lost that much in July. I was thinking that he reported at the end of June.
I think your right, B C. I don’t care if it is scortching hot. If you’re losing close to a pound per day, your not spending all your time playing video games.

But it does show his willingness to be a team player. Unlike a certian someone. I don’t wanna mention any names but his initals are … DEZ BRYANT.
