Coaches often refer to an athlete being “coachable.” Arkansas assistant coach John L. Smith found Oklahoma outside linebacker Kentrell Brothers just that during the junior/senior prospect camp July 17

“I was doing pretty good at linebacker and he was giving me people to go up against,” Brothers said. “He put against one of the top tight ends and he told me exactly want to do. So I did exactly what he told me and it worked. I went back over to him and he said “I like you because you’re coachable”. So the rest of the camp we had a pretty good vibe.”

Brothers, 6-1, 215, 4.70 of Guthrie reports 15 scholarship offers, including Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Washington and Tulsa. He said he heard favorable reviews after the camp.

“They said to stay in touch.” said Brothers, who reports a 3.2 grade-point average.”I think they’ll offer me. I hope they do.”

Brothers, who has visited Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Missouri and Kansas State recorded 95 tackles, 17 sacks and 4 interceptions and as a receiver had 62 receptions for 1,122 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.

The only time Brothers had a reprieve from action last year was on kickoff returns but this fall he’ll see no time watching his teammates.

“This year I’ll be on everything,” said Brothers, who’s being recruited as a receiver by Washington. “It’s not easy but once you get into the game you really don’t think about the energy you have left. Maybe at halftime you think about it because you’re just sitting there and you realize how tired you are but during the game I don’t think too much about it.”

I wonder where Shearin and Kissinger are as far as close to being offered or not.

MRPRFCT, The Hawgs won’t offer either one.(IMO) No offers so far for either and Kissinger didn’t even show for the Seniors camp.

  3. You have to show interest on your behalf if you want to at least get an offer. I guess Kissinger does not have that in him. That disappoints me because I thought he had the talent and size to be a good Razorback.

MRPRFCT why do you keep pimping Arkansas athletes. Year after year Arkansas produces in the lower top 10 of D-I athletes produced. Why should some kids that aren’t good enough to play for other big name schools be offered by Arkansas.

    HogFan,

I wouldn’t say Kissinger or Shearin aren’t good enough just yet.
Neither have commited to other schools and they still have their Sr. year to show the coaches what they can do.
Also, when you have a highly regarded LB recuit like Anthony Wallace showing a lot of interest in the Hogs, you want to show as coaches where your priorities lye. Doing what’s best for the future of the team.
Coach Petrino has shown he finishes up pretty strong with recruiting, so we shall see.

Hogfan, I don’t “pimp” Arkansas athletes. Arkansas produce a lot of talent per capita and that number keeps increasing yearly in both football and basketball. I asked where they stood as far as getting an offer. I don’t understand how that is “pimping” them.
