Fullback/linebacker Trevon Pendleton attended camps at Cincinnati, Ohio State, Bowling Green, Toledo, and Michigan State before participating in Arkansas’ junior/senior prospect camp July 17.
Pendleton, 6-0, 231, 4.58 of Portsmouth, Ohio, West has scholarship offers from Ball State and Air Force while drawing interest from Arkansas, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, LSU and others.
“I thought Arkansas’ camp was exceptional,” Pendleton said. “At the other camps, the drills they did you couldn’t separated yourself. The drills we did at Arkansas, you were able to show your athleticism and allowed you to separate yourself from your competition. They really worked us hard too.”
Pendleton rushed 144 times for 1, 471 yards and 20 touchdowns while making 96 tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 8 sacks at linebacker as a junior. Once the game started, he saw very little of the sideline by playing on both sides of the ball and playing on every special team units.
“I’ve actually returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.” Pendleton said.
Pendleton, who reports a 365 bench press and 585 squat, was pleased with his showing at camp.
“Early part of the day was shaky,” said Pendleton, who reports a 3.97 pro-shuttle time. “But second part of the day I did really well in drills and the 1-on-1 and blocking I thought I did a really good job. They said I was definitely in the top two in my position on their list and said we would definitely be in contact.”
Pendleton earned the top prospect award out of about 500 athletes at the Schumann National underclassman camp at the University of Oklahoma over the weekend.

He’s got some great numbers. I know Big Tex is starting off at fullback, but it wouldn’t hurt to add another. That shuttle time is amazing.
Here is another guy that has been pigeon holed into the full back position. He has the talent to be a running back. Peyton Hillis was a great running back and he was relegated to fullback and blocking. The mindset of modern day coaches make me sick.
There is a bias against white runningbacks. Sad, but true. That’s why I tell my nephew to be prepared to play safety if he has an opportunity to compete at the next level.
Well MRFRFCT you said what I was beating around the bush about. This is not being prejudiced against black atheletes. Lord knows I am a Mcfadden and Felix fan…but I am also very much a Peyton Hillis fan.
If you take if one step further, isn’t this the same mind set that said that blacks could not be good quarterbacks? I am NOT trying to stir up a hornet’s nest with my comments. I just remember the running back out of California that did great running and didn’t get the time of day when it came to draft day…not to mention Hillis again.
Yeah I think your nephew is going to have to work up to being a safety… that or he needs to start working on his kicking and punting.. how many black kickers do you see out there?
Hillis playing FB had nothing to do with his color and I don’t think this is a subject that should be discussed on this blog. Peyton was an excellent running back and on most Razorback teams he would have been the star. The problem was that we also had 2 of the best ever on the same team and that made him 3rd string. In order to get him on the field they moved him to fullback, which improved his chances of being drafted. He asked to play LB because he knew he would not get much playing time at RB. As it turned out full (H) back was the ideal position for him.
You guys are ridiculous. If he can play, he’ll play. At Arkansas, “fullback” can mean a guy who lines up next to the QB in the Pistol. So that would mean more of a halfback. He’ll block, gets carries, and catch some passes. Maybe he’d be used in goal line packages like Broderick Green. Maybe he’ll play linebacker.
Van Stumon plays FB exclusively. He doesn’t play HB. FB in Petrino’s offense is a FB, not a HB.
Hillis is just as good a RB as McFadden and Jones. When Hillis was hurt in 2006 we lost those games. He had great speed for his size. He has hands like a WR. He would have been perfect in Petrino’s offense.
There is a bias against white runningbacks. That’s just a fact. It’s the same as the old bias against black QBs.
Also, in the pistol or “shot” offense the RB lines up BEHIND the QB, not beside him.
Stumon is not a running back BP uses packages with other players that are used as H-backs.
Stumon will not see the light of day playing any position. There are better backs out there now. He was converted to Full back because of need. It is too late in his career to move him back to linebacker which was his natural position.
Stumon is a beast, he should get his chance to compete along with everyone else.
He will get his time at FB in short yardage and goal line if he gets out of doghouse for DUI.
Pendleton – He needs to get in the weight room to try to add some height. If he’s 230, the young lady in the video standing beside him must go about 190, which makes me question his shuttle time. Looks to score well with the intangibles though; attitude, heart, work ethic. Certainly not a slam dunk athletically.
His shuttle time is below 4 seconds. That’s elite…for a wide receiver!!!
BackwaterHog, you just lost all credibility.
Yeah BackwaterHog, that was just dumb… 230 in muscle can look that way… Jermaine Taylor weighed a ridiculous 162, and he was one of the most ripped and muscular people I’ve ever seen.
BackwaterHog, you just lost all credibility.

Guess that puts me in the penalty box with you then.
Yea, you’re right Andrew, my bad. Taylor does weight 162 so Pendleton must weight 230. You show some of the same reasoning skills as your buddy Mrp
Are you kidding me? The girl in the picture may go 5’10″, since Pendleton is supposed to be 6’0″, but it’s obvious the kid is thick.
The girl would go about 135 lbs. tops.
No Andrew, what is dumb of you is trying to make an argument that Pendleton weighs 230 instead of the lesser amount that I suspect, and then using the analogy that athletes that are ripped and packed full of muscle can be very light.
Regardless of his weight, like I said above, the guy has the intangibles and even though I didn’t get visions of Peyton Hillis from watching the 20 sec practice video, he’s only 17 and could definitely be a player. But as everyone on this board knows, the only person on this blog with the evaluation skills to grade out a player’s total skill set and potential by watching them catch one practice ball is MrP.
Guys just look at Pendleton! He is 229 1/2 not 230!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now Gonzo, don’t you go jumping on me or that will hurt my feelings. Unlike MrP, I actually value your opinions. MrP, I value his knowledge and fact finding abilities. He’s like having an on site reporter for the blog. He just has a little problem putting those facts together into logical conclusion sometimes, which has been a bit of an enigma for me in these few months I’ve read his posts.
Thanks Big Boi, Vindication is mine!
I’ve gotta go before MrP finds this thread and writes something that will make me cry. Later!
Correction: Make me cry again.
Yeah, and that girl is 189 1/2, not 190!
I mean, not 190!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
