Arkansas’ junior/senior prospect camp has drawn nice reviews from athletes for the intensity and college like practice atmosphere.
Defensive end Trevon Lewis, 6-2, 235, 4.59 of Midwest City, Okla., is one of the best prospects in the Sooner state without an offer. He recorded 80 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 interceptions for touchdowns and scored a touchdown while playing tight end as a junior.
“It was a hard working day,” said Lewis of the Arkansas camp. “It was very hot but it overall was the best camp I’ve been to all summer.”
Reggie Johnson, Arkansas’ linebacker coach, kept the campers on their toes, according to Lewis.
“Arkansas’ camp seemed more serious and more focused,” said Lewis, who has attended camps at Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. “Coach (Johnson) was serious and he was on us every time we did something wrong. It was more fun and physical. In my one day with him I learned a lot. He made my hip and footwork better in just one day. He’s an outstanding coach and I would like to play for him ”
The Hogs see Lewis as a bone jarring linebacker at the next level.
“I think they’re recruiting me as an outside linebacker that can rush the quarterback on third down and still play the linebacker position,” Lewis said. “If Arkansas offers, I’m going to commit and I’m going to be a Razorback.”
Lewis was given a heads up about what to expect once he arrived in Fayetteville.
“My youth pastor told me “you’re going to love Arkansas. It’s a great place and a great school.” said Lewis, who reports a 2.8 grade-point average and plans to major in engineering. “I got down there and saw it and felt all the love from all of the coaches. I just felt at home.”

It’s good to Coach Johnson get some positive reviews. Sometimes it seems he’s the forgotten coach.
Linebacker with his size and 4.6 speed. Not too shabby.
Does he have the lateral ability to play LB? Maybe that’s why he’s a DE.
C’mon Mike_E, knocking the kid’s GPA, really? 2.8 is about a B average, not too bad if you ask me. Good luck on your senior season, Trevon.
And I agree, it’s good to see Coach Johnson getting some props.
If my GPA was 2.8, i would just rather not bring it up in conversations. I would focus on my playing ability.
Some people have learning disabilities or various other hardships guys… I had a 4.4 and was in pretty much all AP classes, but that doesn’t mean I was the best college student…. Believe Me…
2.8 is pretty darn good for a student athlete. I like him.
If Barnett and Gaston had a 2.8 we would all be dancing in the streets !
Peyton,
I am sure Richard asked him about his grades and he gave an honest answered. Just like Richard knew what his 40 time, and weight. We want these kids to come to our school and a lot of people are hammering the staff about not recruiting on defense but they nitpick everything about the kids.
PHFTW, I seriously doubt that. Your intelligence (or lack thereof) comes out in all your post, yet you still post.

DalHogFan, I have never read a more true statement on these threads than this. It would appear that no player is ever good enough.
Just a thought, but Brey Cook didn’t have a single offer until OU offered. I guess they weren’t worried that no other team had offered.
Yeah right Mr. P. I bet you are real proud of that GED that you went back when you were 35 to get, arent you? Well you are special, just like your mom told you, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I hope life there in Stuttgart isn’t too fast for you.
Still looking for Rodney Coe’s brother that played for the Hogs?
LOL you’re off on so many levels. I just turned 35 earlier this year, so I’m clearly not as old as you think I am. Maybe you think I’m older based on the wisdom I show in my post. I graduated HS, so it wasn’t necessary for me to get a GED. I’ve never been to Stuttgart. You are right about one thing. My mom does think I’m special.
Redshirt him a year. See what he can develop into. CBP has taken chances in the past. Amobi Okoye for instance a 16 year old who went to become a Top Ten pick in the NFL. Lets develop these players. If you notice alot of NC teams have alot of redshirted and fifth year
starters somewhere already playing or ready to step in anytime. Thats going to be the true key to us winning the big boy.
Nope. I’m still looking for a 5-8 182 lb safety that’s “too small to play CB, but just right for safety”.
Mr P, I hope thats not a shot at GED holders please?
Nevermind I see the poster. Thanks guy, Bill Gates was a GED holder and you couldnt pants up!
lol i was never looking for a 5’8″ midget, but i did find a 5’10″ 208 safety taken in the first round last year…not too shabby.
Check out this nice read

that is a good read. i enjoy the effort that Peyton puts into researching his arguments. but that mr. p guy seems pretty petty, repetitive, and vindictive. hopefully he will eventually find out the value of a little research to get him to be a little more open minded to various ideas.
PHFTW, now that was a funny post unintentional or not. I’m cracking up here.
You guys need to cut the crap. That stuff doesnt have anything to do with sports. It’s old and people are just tired of reading it.
So give us all a break, please !

That’s not gonna cut it at engineering at UofA
