This is a quick synopsis of the brackets’ bias

The highest and lowest power rated teams in the 4-13 brackets and biggest differences
    # 3 Wisconsin plays # 82 Wofford 79 point difference
    #10 Maryland plays # 83 Houston 73 point difference
    Average power rating for 4-13 seed: #24.5 – #57

The weakest power rated team in the 5-12 bracket:
Michigan States plays #113 New Mexico State
Average power rating for a 12th seed: #39.7

The highest power rated team in the 7-10 bracket and the lowest:
BYU is rated the #8 power rated team in the nation:
Average power ranking for 7th seed: #35.3
The lowest power rated team in the 10th seed is #49 Florida and they play each other
The average for the #10 seed is: #30

The highest rated team in the 8/9 bracket plays the lowest rated team: #19 Florida State vs #56 Gonzaga or it can be #15 Texas vs #50 Wake Forest:
Average power rating difference: #25 vs #38

The funniest discrepancy has got to be # 27 Georgia Tech as a 10th seed playing # 42 Oklahoma State as the 7th seed. WTF

  2. Blake Blake says:

I am only doing one bracket this year at work. I have Kansas winning it all, but I hope there are some big upsets this year.

  3. Hog in OKC Hog in OKC says:

    Blake,
Don’t pick Kansas to win. I posted on the wrong thread a minute ago but my Bricktown Marriott is full of Jayhawk fans right now and they have all turned out to be pricks so far. So what if they have earned the right to be so but still. They’re kind of like the LSU’s of basketball in my opinion.

  4. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

Boy, Florida has it’s hands full. I think they’re going down.

  5. Blake Blake says:

I am hoping that BYU is giving their best shot right now, and that Florida can pull this thing out as the game goes on.

I am not an SEC SEC SEC guy, but I am tired of the disrespect that the SEC basketball conference gets. Even if we are down for where we have been we have good teams and talented players. We should not keep getting disrespected year in and year out. The only way that is going to change is if our SEC teams can get back to making noise in the big dance.

  6. Blake Blake says:

    Hog in OKC,

I know their fans are awful. My aunt married a guy from Kansas and I have to hear that mess all the time.

But just looking at their bracket I like em. I could have picked Kentucky over them, but I have Kansas edging them out. I just hate Calapari and KY more I guess you could say.

  7. Blake Blake says:

    WTH is wrong with Villanova!!??

They are going to screw my bracket up.

  8. RazorRandy RazorRandy says:

    It’s not over yet, Blake!

  9. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

The SEC was screwed when they made up the brackets. I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost 3 in the first round and Kentucky goes down in the second.

  10. Blake Blake says:

    Come on ODU!!

    I can’t stand ND.

  11. Blake Blake says:

Boyton is getting on fire, but his D is sorry.

FL needs to get some good stops to win this game.

  12. Blake Blake says:

    Dude Villanova is KILLING ME!

  13. Blake Blake says:

But at the same time I will look like a genius when ODU beats ND, and it looks like it is about to happen if they can make these FTs!!

I had FL over BYU though because BYU had lost 6 straight first round games. Come on Gators!

  14. Blake Blake says:

OMG WTF! You are killing me now missing FTs to ice the game.

  15. Blake Blake says:

These first three games have been madness!!

  16. BigHogFan BigHogFan says:

Florida’s letting it slip away tied again 79-79 in OT

  17. BigHogFan BigHogFan says:

NOVA is NOT going to let this one slip away…there’s plenty of time left!

  18. BigHogFan BigHogFan says:

    Double OT!!

  19. BigHogFan BigHogFan says:

Stick a fork in the gators

  20. Blake Blake says:

Well ODU made me look smart by winning and helps my bracket, but FL let me down.

  21. BigHogFan BigHogFan says:

Stick another one in the commodores….SEC 0-2

  22. Blake Blake says:

    They looked awful.

And you know it seems to me when I watch SEC teams play other teams that they never play as well against them as they do the Hogs.

Maybe I am crazy, but they play better D against us, and they hit their shots. Even with the same quality of play coming from the Hogs.

    I am probably just crazy..

  23. SEC looked awful today thats for sure. Maybe Kentucky is the only legit SEC team.

  24. hogice hogice says:

Yeah Peyton, people can say what they want about our program, but the whole SEC is pathetic. They are showing it today.

  25. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

I still don’t think the SEC is down. I think the SEC is being set up with some kind of a scouting system which the ACC uses (I know I am a conspiracy theorist) but as far back as I can remember the SEC has gotten terrible match-ups in the tournament (check it out).

That is just how crazy the ACC is or maybe how reality based they are. They know they can’t beat the SEC on the court so they do it by scouting all the teams and then manipulating the selection and seeding process. Also using their big-mouthed talking-head butt-boys, Dick Vital and Billie Packard, added to drums of east-coast media ink and manipulated power-ranking polls (which if you check them out are a joke) they have created a facade that they are the best conference in America.

Look at the match-ups that the SEC played today. Florida had to play BYU and BYU matched up great against Florida. BYU’s main strength was their bench while Florida’s weakness was theirs. Just a coincidence, well maybe, and maybe it’s also just a coincidence that tall but slow Vanderbilt had to play Murry State who just happens to have one of the fastest and quickest teams in the tournament. Oh, and by the way, both of those teams are 2 of the only 4 teams in the tournament who have over 30 wins. Please don’t tell me that does not matter because practically every college coach in the nation has said parity has come to college basketball and it has.

Remember when Arkansas won the National Championship and they had to play North Carolina A & T who had won something like 10 of their last 11 games. They were a 16st seed and just happen to be shipped from the east coast where they should have played in the East bracket where Duke was playing to the mid west just to play the #! seeded hogs. I know just another coincidence like also our next game was against Georgetown and Coach Thompson (former National Champions and another team that should have been in the east regional) and then Tulsa (Tubby Smith) who had already taken us to overtime that year, and then Michigan and their coach who had also won a National Championship a few years earlier themselves, and then came Arizona and Lute (no need to be repetitive) and lastly was Duke @ Charlotte (Duke;s home state). I know this is all just a large gourp of coincidences and I am paronid but gosh isn’t that at the very least just a little bit strange?

Hey, if you really want a laugh go back and check out 1992 when the SEC had Arkansas with Miller, Mayberry and Day, LSU had Shack, Alabama had Sprewell and his friends and then there was Pitino and his group and no one made it past the sweet 16 except Arkansas who lost to Kansas in the regional finals coached by that idiot who is now at North Carolina.

If you think anything will change in basketball without getting real leadership, not in SEC coaching, but in the SEC administration (AD’s and the main office) then you are crazier than you think this post is.

  26. RKV RKV says:

The SEC is way down there is no question of that, however today’s losses aren’t as bad as it might look. FL took a better seed to dbl overtime and Vandy lost on a buzzer beater. One of the national commentators said that this was the worst possible match up for Vandy but if they got by the first round he thought they would go a long way in the tourney. BYU was the highest rated 7 seed and WV may be the best 2.I think some of the other conference officials on the selection comm. are tired of getting their ass kicked in football by the SEC and use their position for pay back. Just a thought there’s always a conspiracy theory hiding somewhere.

  27. Hog n OKC Hog n OKC says:

I’m pretty sure the SEC is just bad right now.

  28. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

I am pretty sure they are not!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Hog n OKC Hog n OKC says:

I think Tennessee will go the farthest in the tourney. Kentucky is the most talented but they are so young I think they will choke.

  30. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

Kentucky is set up having to play Texas who has everyone back and wants to prove something.

  31. OKOFCOURSE OKOFCOURSE says:

SDS is another true sleeper and Tennessee will go far if they can get by them.

  32. Hog n OKC Hog n OKC says:

I may get to see a brawl between K-State and Jayhawk fans here at the hotel before the night is over. They have actually posted police in the lobby, hilarious!! Way to show some class Big12!!!

  33. RKV RKV says:

The entire rating system is flawed, a team wins a couple of games early and gets ranked. Then all the teams in their conference move up on strength of schedule. They don’t play any good teams out of conference to show their weakness so all the teams keep ranking higher and higher. Pretty soon everyone thinks they’re great because of how they are winning against weak teams with inflated rankings, its a snow ball effect. Like a few years ago when everybody was saying how strong the big ten was and that OSU and Michigan should get a rematch for the NC. Neither team had played anyone outside of there region since game 1 or 2. OSU has to play FL for the NC and gets blown out. It was the same thing in reverse when Auburn didn’t get to play for the NC when they were undefeated, because the SEC was thought to be down. If USC would have had to play an SEC team they may not have won any NCs.

  34. Bigfoot Bigfoot says:

Let’s change the subjeect a little. I see where Corliss has been offered and has accepted the job at HC-Basketball for State Teacher College (UCA). Since he left early for the NBA draft, did he ever complete his degree? If so, when and where? I heard that he was considering Scotty Thurman for an assistant coach. Also, did he complete his degree? How can these guys have COACHING jobs without the degrees? Isn’t this a poor example for the kids they bring in?

    SEC
Maybe that will change, but yes we were that bad. Northern Iowa would be the second best team in the SEC. UTEP, Montana,Northern Iowa, Murray State,Old Dominion, all have players that could star for the Hogs.

  36. lol Mike from Stuttgart called into Bo Mattingly yesterday and predicted with certainty that UTEP with their black athletes would stomp the whimpy white boys from Butler.

Final Score: UTEP 59, Butler 77.

I kind of hope Mike had money riding on that.

  37. based off of yesterday, Tennessee will choke long before Kentucky.
