Arkansas has become Quarterback U. I suspect that Keihl Frazier will realize that, although he can play for any school in the nation, the best school for him is right here at home. Come on Keihl, commit to the Hogs and become a home-state hero.
The earlier the better. There is a thing in recruiting called momentum.
I will take an oral commitment from a top stud early on more so than later, based on what it can do for bringing along other quality players. I would want him anyway, but to have his solid verbal by Oct-Dec timeframe would go a long way in increasing our chances with other top talent.
We think we’er headed in that direction quicker than u think MRPRFCT…2 Great yrs is all u really need to start getting top notch talent…1 great yr down from a quarterback perspective and everyone believes barring injury this season will be #2….with commits from brandon allen and frazier…imagine this 3 mobile accurate QBs and 2 great pocket passers…sounds like a Quarterback University to me…LOOK OUT WORLD hear comes them hogs…WHOOOOOO PIG SOOOOOOIE!
Knowing what I know now after what I have seen the past two seasons, if I had a son that was a highly regarded QB, I would have to seriously consider Arkansas under Petrino. I can’t think of anyone I have observed that has a better understanding of the position and is more capable of coaching up a player for the next level in the NFL. We WILL continue to attract top notch QB’s in the years to come.
We don’t have frazier yet. Nobody yet knows how Walker or Mitchell will pan out, and the only big game action Wilson has seen was against Alabama where he did…nothing special. And I hope more than anyone that every one of those guys pans out, but we had 3 great years of “Tailback U” action ’05-’07, and… yeah, we’ve got good backs, maybe great backs, but we’re not at the top of the league in backs. Yeah, we can get to QB U if the guys take us there, but to say Keihl Frazier will come to AR because we’re QB U is a somewhat bogus claim.
Definitely not QB U just yet but certainly the potential is there with Petrino and McGee at the helm. On the other hand we got Mallett by a bit of luck and have yet to successfully recruit an elite QB like Kiehl out of HS… when CBP is able to consistently pull that off, then maybe QB U will apply to Fayetteville. If Mallett et al play up to potential and the D improves significantly, 2010 will be a breakout year for CBP’s program… bringing QB U that much closer to becoming a reality.
Why is everyone so worried about Frazier? If Allen would not have committed early he would be just as sought after as Frazier. Wasn’t Allen a higher rated QB before Frazier got offers from Notre Dame, Florida, etc. AR fans get so caught up in the stars and what other teams think of players that they forget we were fortunate to get a top tier QB early in the recruiting process.
Just A Hog, is there highlight film of Allen available? All I’ve seen is a sequence of plays on the same drive against the same team. Frazier’s video is a highlight video.
I’m not taking anything away from Kiehl at all, but the defenses Brandon played against in the 7-A West were outstanding.
If you look at the defenses Kiehl played against, they were average at best.
Kiehl has a lot of weapons to work with in that offense too.
Also, Brandon already plays in a system were some of the pro sets are somewhat similar to what CBP runs.
There’s no way Kiehl will be able to familiarize himself with the drop back pass as quikly as Brandon will in their first season.
Of course that doesn’t mean Kiehl won’t eventually be the best QB, but I wouldn’t get too excited about him early on if he ends up commiting to the Hogs. It’s still going to take at least 2 or 3 years to catch on.
I have been to a coaching clinic in where Coach Floyd of Shiloh explained their offensive schemes. The thing with Frazier is the passing attack is basically all-go routes. One receiver will stay back for an underneath route or whatever but I think this hurts Frazier a little bit because he doesn’t have to read a defense as much. It isn’t hard when 4 out of 5 receivers are running some sort of go or fly route. Not saying he isn’t a good quarterback but I think it is something to consider.

This spring will definitely help Tyler Wilson and Brandon Mitchell in their quest to eventually become the next stud at Quarterback U.
Man, I am sooo ready for some football.

When/if Mallett wins the Heisman, I suspect some quarterbacks will want to play here even more
ON film Allen DOES NOT compare to Frazier

i saw some film early of Allen, and was really exited that he was going to be a Hog.
but after seeing film of Frazier, i’m gonna have to go with Just A Hog’s assessment.
still tho, Allen ain’t chopped liver – and will be an excellent QB in the cardinal & white.
Two things to remember:
1. Brandon plays against better competition.
2. Khiel has more talent to work with against inferior talent.

We are fortunate to have two such talented QBs in the state.
