One of the top prospects in Louisiana, defensive lineman Mickey Johnson, is open to all schools.
“I have the same interest as every other school,” said Johnson, who has visited LSU and Miss. St. ”I’m just enjoying the process. I know Jerry Mitchell, who plays safety for Arkansas. He played for Mandeville, a local rival. He’s told me about a lot of things and said the facilities are out of this world. We talk a lot.”
Johnson, 6-1, 310, 5.0 of Covington St. Paul high school, has 13 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, LSU. Nebraska, Arizona, Miss. St, Tulane and others. He said he plans to attend a Razorback football camp this summer.
Johnson, who has resided in the Bayou State the past eight years , lived in California and Tampa, Florida before settling in Louisiana. He said the Tigers are not a lock for his services.
“I’m not originally from here,” said Johnson, who has recorded a 4.7 pro-shuttle and 27-inch vertical. “I’ve been all over the place because my dad is in the Navy so I don’t have a favorite team. As of right now, I’m open to all schools.”
Johnson, who started lifting weights in the eighth grade, reports a 440-pound bench press, 695 squat and 345 power clean. Last year, Johnson, whose father was a body builder while serving in the Navy, narrowly missed out in winning the state weight lifting championship last year after being defeated by a senior by a mere five pounds as sophomore.
He recorded 50 tackles, 9 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 recovered fumble last season. Johnson said he desires a college that people support within and outside the community.

#1 DT on my wish list for sure and it sounds like we have a shot. Thanks RD!
Just wanted to go ahead and let some people in on something I heard from a very reliable source in the Dallas airport today. Rotnei Clarke will be putting in for a release and either transfering to Ok State or Gonzaga. From what I’ve been told he is unhappy with the Pel system and will be leaving. I really hope this isn’t true?
arkcoachnwaiting, I heard the same type of rumor last year. If Rotnei wants to leave let him. He can shoot the ball but he can’t get his own shot. I’m sure a lot of the kids are pissed because of CJP system or lack of a system(I know I am)!
Dang…bench 440…squat 695? Holy crap!! Strong kid.
If Rotnei were to read this board, I unequivocally want him to remain a razorback.
From everything I read about Rotnei, he is a class act!
I do understand him being frustrated. We all are. Hang in there Rotnei. Th Hogs are going around that turn as we speak.
All this talk about Rotnei not being able to get his own shot is honestly a load of bull. Yes he’s 6 feet tall. However with the system we run all we have rotnei do is go hide in the corner. He can put the ball on the floor stop and pop or even use that little floater he showed. Fortson to me is a great point guard but again with our offense and the way pel coaches it has Fortson with the ball in his hand 90% of the time. If both of them leave I can see Powell leaving too. This could be an awful summer for Razorback basketball if Pel remains the coach. Why we stay with a coach that can’t coach, he may have some basketball IQ but he can’t translate that to his players. That showed many times this season. It’s time for a change Jeff Long.
It’s always darkest before the dawn, Rotnei. Helps on the way!!!
I think we get Mickey Johnson because of our weight room. Thanks again, Daddy Frank.
Mr. Johnson, there is no school anywhere with better fan support than Arkansas. With the Razorbacks, there is no competition for affection. Become a Hog; play in the SEC; learn from the best; utilize the best facilities; and prepare for the pros!
Rotnei,
I am pretty sure you haven’t met Al Dillard but you’ve probably heard of him. He could shoot the 3 from the Hog’s tail. Once he told some people his secret and that was he exercised his forearms which gave him the strength to shoot the ball from way farther out (to the Hog’s tail). The way he got this strength advantage was holding some bar bells while keeping his forearms straight out parallel with the ground and doing “mini-curls” with only his wrists.
This increased his strength so he could shoot from even farther out which drew even more defenders leaving the inside so soft and vulnerable that Corliss and his buddies had field days. When Dillard was hot and everything was clicking Barnhill went crazy. All you have to do is work on your forearm strength (like Dillard) and learn how to evade one defender (which you already know how to do) and if they send him help which they will if you get hot then fire it inside to the bigs.
It worked before when Dillard was here and I don’t see any reason why it can’t work again. The trick is getting the strength in your forearms which will help you to make a lot longer 3′s, and then connecting with the bigs when they send help.
I love this kid…no really, I do. I love him.
OKOFCOURSE, That could help Rotnei but don’t forget Al Dillard was a super athlete (Rotnei is a below average athlete). He should get tapes of Gerry McNamara (Syracuse) and Kyle McAlarney (Notre Dame) both are similar in size, athletism and shooting range.
Al Dillard, (according to Gene Bartow) the UAB coach who was recruiting Dillard at the time, “was not a player” and didn’t offer him a scholarship nor did any other big time program that I can remember While Rotnei was recruited by Oklahoma and OSU and many others.
OKOFCOURSE, What’s your point? That Gene Bartow and the rest of the schools missed on a Al Dillard? I heard s story (I don’t know how true it is)that Nolan was in Alabama recruiting and was told he had to check out this kid that could dunk over a car hood. Nolan went to the park where the kid was playing, and watched him do all kinds of amazing dunks. After the kid was done playing Nolan said son all those dunks where great but can you shoot? That kid was Al Dillard.
Either way I can see Rotnei coming off the bench by mid season next year. Look outside of 3pt shooting. He is a GREAT KID(student athlete) and great rep fot the UofA, but offers little else inside of 20ft.
I thought I explained my point rather clearly: How to improve and utilize your talent (shooting the 3-point shot) better.
My money is on Rotnei for an uncontested 3. Outside of that Rotnei brings very little to the table. Can’t create his own shoot, very slow and weak defender. He makes me sick with his constant lack of movement and back-up dribble I find myself yelling “go toward the F’n basket Rotnei” every time he dribbles the basketball.
Dillard was recruited by Arizona ST., Bama, S. Alabama, Arkansas and a few others.
I found this interesting article with Nolan talking about recruiting his players from the NC team and how they weren’t high profile players but just players that fit his system.
I thought it interesting considering how so many are expecting big results from Pelphrey if and only if he gets much more talented and higher profile players for his team.
Nolan talked about his “system” alot. Does anyone know what our “system” is at this time??
http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=697135
If he could get a little bit more like Pat Bradley in him. Great outside shooter and had great anticipatory insticts for getting steals also.
Rotnei Clarke is a excellent shooter, an average passer, a poor creater, and a much worse defender. So one out of four aint bad.
It would be great for Rotnei to continue to be a starter if he was in a system that knew how to get him open routinely for open shots instead of him having to force shots up out of frustration.
But since teams have figured out that we don’t have this system, and have figured out how to guard Rotnei…he has now become a liability because he lacks in the other three areas above.
If he could get a little bit more like Pat Bradley in him. Great outside shooter and had great anticipatory insticts for getting steals also.
**********************************************************************
I agree Matt. Bradley couldn’t create either but still scored routinely because he was in a system that was uptempo and he got a majority of wide open shots out of transition because that was Nolan’s style.
Right now…we don’t have ANY system consistently. When we have gone more uptempo Rotnei has been open many times. However uptempo hasn’t been a style we have defined ourselves with and we fall out of it regularly. Also we have a PG that tries to penetrate and do circus shots more times than not instead of making that extra kickout pass.
Both of these things hurts Rotnei’s case even more.
Where did you get the info on who was recruiting Al Dillard?
Sorry Oko…I’ll find it again and post it…
Here is part of one article. It’s on page two. Should pop up on 2 but if you don’t see it at the bottom then see if it jumped you to the start of the article. I didn’t even notice this but the article also mentions Cinci wanting Dillard also.
http://articles.latimes.com/1993-04-22/news/ga-25765_1_washington-high?pg=2
I’ll try to find the one with Bama in it too..
This article also mentions another player Arkansas almost got in Jerald Honeycutt. He was a big time recruit at the time. Brings back memories.
Here’s the other one talking about Dillard taking a visit to Bama…
http://articles.latimes.com/1993-05-06/sports/sp-31997_1_arizona-state?pg=2
So that makes Arizona St., Cinci, S. Alabama, Bama, and Arkansas for the Hog nose bomber.
By the way OKO…where did you get the article about the UAB coach saying Dillard wasn’t a player??
I read or heard it somewhere but never believed it. I wonder if anyone out there also heard it because I don’t remember where or when.
By the way…I think Bartow could have used Dillard. UAB went 31-29 with no postseason play while Dillard was at Arkansas.
Aren’t we getting off the point of how to better utilize Clarke’s talent?
Ratliff(hopefully) + Powell + Waithe equals more teams packing it in allowing for more open outside shots.
Agreed, one hand washes the other and vice versa. Hey, where’s the post for the up coming Hog baseball game? Is it going to be late again?
matt has the right of it..you have to have an inside presence if you want to create space for the outside shooters. Hence why brady morningstar gets open looks…his defender has to help off of him on aldrich..
I surely hope rotnei does not transfer..i feel that with peterson becoming eligible we will have a much more team oriented offense with a pg that looks to distribute before shoot. All we’re left with fellas, imo, is hope which i still have..
is it spring football time yet??
Aren’t we getting off the point of how to better utilize Clarke’s talent?
***********************************************************
Well I think the point of this thread was supposed to be about the D-lineman…until we hijacked it with other points…LOL!!
But yes…Clarke needs to be utilized much better whether it be changing the scheme while he’s in there or maybe not utilizing him much at all if the other parts of his game don’t improve. Both could be considered a better use of Clarke depending on how his game progressed or just as important how the schemes change.
Sorry, I forgot what the original post was about! As long as we’re on the subject how about that baseball game post or thread or whatever?
Ratliff(hopefully) + Powell + Waithe equals more teams packing it in allowing for more open outside shots.
**********************************************************************
I agree Matt this frontcourt would be a tough matchup for the 3 or the 4 spot for most teams.
Waithe would probably be the 3 in this scenario because his game is more outside oriented.
Powell would be the 4…and a tough matchup as well.
Ratliffe’s game is all inside from what I’ve seen of him so he would be our 5. However he’s very small for a 5 in a BCS conference. He’s strong as an ox but only 6’8″…if that.
But still…he keeps the other teams major bigs away from Powell and Waithe.
Sorry, I forgot what the original post was about! As long as we’re on the subject how about that baseball game post or thread or whatever?
*********************************************************************
Well I’m sure there will be a baseball thread. But if not…then we can just use this one for our baseball enjoyment. The catch-all thread.
also, bottom line is we were improved this season from last so i do not feel pel should be fired. That will change, however, if we have another mass exodus like last year for i think it impossible to convince recruits to come to a program where players transfer after each year.
If the tread is not posted soon then we can go to my blog site. It won’t take long for everyone to sign up and when you do you get your own free blog site.

*********************************************************************
Well it’s no big news that I disagree with the first part. I don’t think we’ve improved that much but that the West has regressed that much. We’ve collapsed at the end of two different seasons where the West has been pretty weak for both years. But that’s old commentary and I respectfully disagree.
I agree wholeheartedly on the second part though as well as recruits will wonder away from a program not making post season play as well.
Hey what’s yalls gut feeling about Farmer though? Man he seems like he should have some game for as smoothe as he comes across. He was pretty limited on minutes though after showing a ton of promise early. I’m going to look at his minutes coming down the back half of the year. But what the heck happened?
Have a hard time believeing Rotnei is going anywhere at this point. Would have to sit out a year, and it would mean his family would have to pack up and move, too, right? Just wouldn’t happen that easily.
Hey look at this article. We should all hope our kids grow up with compassion like these girls. Hope this puts the selfish athlete into perspective. Pretty cool…

I still think that the only reason the west appears to be down is how really good the east is. How can the “experts” say that Georgia Tech is in when they were beaten by the last place team in the SEC east, Georgia? Georgia Tech is 7-9 in the ACC and their only non conference “away” wins were to #252 ranked Chattanooga and “in state” (ACC territory) #102 ranked Charlotte.
Ole Miss, MSU, and Florida deserve a bit a lot more than any 7-9 team from an over-rated, manipulated power-ranked ACC conference.
I don’t beleive any crap about Rotnei leaving, unless we fired PEL.
Conley Clarke [Rots dad] called into a sports talk show and had
his feathers ruffled by some callers calling for PELs head.
Mr. Clarke said ROT came to Arkansas beacuse of Pel and loves
playing for Pel. This was about 6 weeks ago. If Pel is here
next year, Rotnie will be here.
I meant *bid* instead of bit
Ark 2 and Mil-Wis 0 in the bottom of the 3rd.
I seen Mickelson at last weeks Semi Finals wearing a Razorback
T-Shirt with a Big Hog on his back. It sure looked good on him
I might add. He is a very loooong young man. They announced him
later at 6’11″. He had 22/13/8 blks against my sons team.
He is not a clumsy kid at all.
we improved from 2-14 to 7-9 was my point but i do agree with the weakening of the west this year.
as far as farmer, i had high hopes in the beginning of the season and find it odd that once he had some bad games his playing time was cut to essentially nothing. Hard to get out of a funk if you’re never on the floor. Also, i thought that farmer rebounded the ball, looked to drive, and played defense better than steph. so even if he was not scoring..it wasn’t as if others were in his place. That’s my thought on the farmer issue.
I also think it might hurt our chances on landing future JUCO players with only 2 years left if they think that they might receive similar minutes as farmer.
******************************************************************
True OKO…could be a perception thing about the West. However the SEC only getting 3 teams in the tournament last year and the West lucky to get One this year only means the teams themselves are the ones to blame. Their RPI’s stink and they’re lucky they only had 3 teams with overall losing records instead of four.
You can probably find a few wins and losses for teams and think the record doesn’t quite describe how bad or good a team is. But when you have a losing overall record…you’re just bad. And the West had 3 and almost 4 teams like this. It’s a bad division.
I do agree about G-Tech though compared to some others getting in. However Georgia’s been tough all year at home. They almost beat Kentucky at Home. They did beat Vandy, Tenn, and Florida at Home. So Georgia Tech isn’t in too bad of company.
They announced him
later at 6′11″. He had 22/13/8 blks against my sons team.
He is not a clumsy kid at all.
******************************************************************
Arkie does the kid move well or is he slow and stagnate? In other words…is he Big Country slow or KG fast or inbetween…LOL.
If MSU beats Vanderbilt today (and they are leading now) then the SEC has a good chance of getting 6 teams in the tournament. I heard the least influential stat the committee looks at is the power ranking because they know it is manipulated so easily. The only stat going against MSU and Florida is their record in their last 10 games and if MSU wins today they may be in and that very well could be 6.
Yeah I think if Miss ST. beats Vandy then they should definitely be in.
So you are still thinking Ole Miss is in OKO??
Also I think they did away with the last 10 games as a criteria…didn’t they??
Hey just because I’m bored right now I looked up Farmer’s stats. It’s kind of interesting. I noticed a fairly defined line in the sand. I’ll label it such…
BCF and ACF (before Courtney Fortson…and after CF).
BCF…Farmer’s stats:
27 minutes/game
10 pts/game
5.5 reb/game
ACF…Farmer’s stats:
10 min/game
1.2 pts/game
1.8 reb/game
When Fortson returned I know Pel went to a very guard oriented offense where he would have 3 guards on the floor most of the time with Fortson, Clarke and Welsh or Britt…or some combination of that. Sometimes he would even have Courtney play the wing with Welsh or Nobles at the point and another wing player.
So I guess this change negatively affected Farmer.
By the way…BCF team was 7-7. ACF 7-11. Doesn’t mean much but there ya go.
I think Farmer would have been a decent contributor had they left his minutes alone.
Arkie does the kid move well or is he slow and stagnate? In other words…is he Big Country slow or KG fast or inbetween…LOL.
By HOGen-Dazs on Mar 13, 2010 @ 3:10pm
The most impressive thing about Mickelson is his coordination for a 6’11 seventeen year old. He doesn’t play like Cousins from Kentucky more of a face-up Dirk Nowitzki (without Dirks range or ball handling skills).IMO
So he’s more like a huge no. 4…not a true 5 inside presence Big Boi??
Mickelson is a 4. Vint is a 5. Both can run the floor.
Maybe Farmer was a liabilty defensively and that’s why Britt started at the 3 late in the season.
No, I don’t think Ole Miss is in but I do think they deserve to be in. I believe if MSU beats Vandy they will get in, then, unfortunately, Ole Miss will be out which is simply “politics” and has nothing to do with what teams deserve to be in or out.
Mickelson is a 4. Vint is a 5. Both can run the floor.
***************************************************************
Gotcha.
Vint?? I’ll have to look him up. Don’t know anything about him.
HOGen, H.M. moves like a Big Cat. He is very atheletic, taking the ball
down court is not a chore for him. They got the ball to him once on
the break, and about 10 feet from the top of the circle running all out
he brought the ball behind his back to his left hand and kept going
and drew a blocking foul on our team. [Farmington] He also has the
ability to score with spin moves around the hoop, which he did
3 times. He was not hitting FT’s very well, but one of his fans said
he normally does. It was pressure packed game for both teams.
Hunter needs to get more weight on but he is a quality player.
He is hard to play against, his wing span is unreal. One time they
threw the ball over his head and he somehow jumped as high as he could
and caught it one handed, and brought it down. I could not beleive
he caught that ball, it was huge for his team, because of the tight score at the time. I want him more now than ever. College weight
program would be perfect to fill him out. He runs like the wind.
Maybe Farmer was a liabilty defensively and that’s why Britt started at the 3 late in the season.
**********************************************************************
Could be Mr. P. Although he’s tall and has long arms and seems fairly quick it would have to be lack of effort. Although he was averaging nearly 6 rebounds a game in 27 minutes for the first half of the year.
But yes…Britt was a good defensive guard. Probably should have benched Clarke for Britt most of the time since Clarke was being shut down.
Vint?? I’ll have to look him up. Don’t know anything about him.

Isn’t Vint the center on Raliffe’s team ?
No, I don’t think Ole Miss is in but I do think they deserve to be in. I believe if MSU beats Vandy they will get in, then, unfortunately, Ole Miss will be out which is simply “politics” and has nothing to do with what teams deserve to be in or out.
********************************************************************
Very true. You had said you thought the SEC had a good chance of getting 6 teams in if Miss ST beat Vandy today.
If the EAST sends Kentucky, Tenn, Vandy and Florida then the West could only send Miss ST and Ole Miss. So I assumed you meant Ole Miss was already in with State having more work to do.
No I looked him up Ron…I think Mr. P is talking about the Van Buren kid…Hooper Vint. 6’11″ 210 lbs. Is this right Mr. P??
Hogs lead 3-0 in the 8th
Crap ! Your right, my bad.
Hogs have 2 on with 2 out in the 8th
Ron I’ve mentioned how much I’d like to have the center on Waithe’s team though. His name is Bernard James. I’ve seen him play several games and he’s a freakin’ beast but is going to Fla St.
Is that who you meant??
6-0 hogs Bottom of the 7th (my bad) Bases loaded with 2 outs and a new pitcher coming in
Bigham flies out to right to end the inning. Top of the 8th now. Hogs lead 6-0

ALRIGHT!! Way to go Hogs. Get the sweep tomorrow!! WPS!!
Just word on Rotnei leaving rumor just saw coach Pel and Rotnei at 5A boys champ game watching H Mickelson play
Just read on Hogville that rodnei is thinking strongly about transferring. Suppose to meet with pel soon.
Please don’t go Rotnei!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We won’t get top recruits if we aren’t offering them. Plain and simple. We don’t offer big time players so we get mediocre ones.
UA PB Headed to the Dance.,,,
only Arkansas Team….well I’ll be rooting for them for the 3 mins they are still in the game…kentucky, Kansas, Duke, however maybe the upset of a lifetime go get Lions
Go get em Lions
At least one Arkansas team made it.
They’ll be in the play-in game on Tuesday. Congrats to the Lions!
Micky Johnson sounds like a pretty darn good DT recruit. It’s good to see our staff is still concentrating strongly on that position.
Brandon Marcello is reporting that Rotnei is strongly considering transferring, but that a decision has not been made.
Any team in the country would be glad to have Rotnei, so you losers who are saying he should go ahead and transfer need to shut your mouths.
Whats this crap about creating his own shot? Arkansas never seems to try to get Rotnei an open look. From what i have seen, the most they do is have Courtney Fortson dribble down, and then passes to a covered Rotnei on the wing, AS THE FIRST PASS. WEll duh, teams will be on him.
What I havent seen is penetration and then kicking the ball back out to Rotnei, which is what we should have been doing all along.
Its not Rotnei’s fault that Arkansas has no offensive schemes to get him the ball for an open look, I completely understand why he is frustrated.
Rotnei, please come back next year. Many of us are frustrated with the coaching, but I’m afraid transferring would be more damaging to your career in the end.
Peyton,
You make it sound as if Rotnie may be considering a transfer because of CJP’s system.
That could be true, but has it even crossed your limited mind that he might not enjoy playing with certain team mates within that system? How convenient you make that sound for your own coaching change argument.
Damaging to his carrer? He’s already known as possibly the best pure 3-point shooter in the nation. What’s could possibly damage that? He achieved that status through 2 years of CJP’s system didn’t he?
curious as to what you guy’s thoughts are on the assistant coaches rehiring issues..
only thing i can comment on is that i have seen on multiple occasions that recruits have specifically mentioned ostrom? as a guy that they can relate too and appreciate his “realness”. Also i can only imagine that Rob Evans provides some much needed experience in such a youthful staff, but..
“curious as to what you guy’s thoughts are on the assistant coaches rehiring issues..”
I personally would like us to go after Steve Alford. And bring the big checkbook, not the little one.
Do we have enough in the bank to write a big check? We’ve already made Petrino one of the highest paid coaches. We’ve significantly raised ticket prices.
Rotnei’s dad has called into radio shows in the past and defended Coach Pel. Maybe Rotnei wants to get away from the negative, clueless fans.
Like the fans at OSU,OU? OSU has Keiton Page=Rotnie Clarke, OU fans
are hollering about their head BB coach. Rotnie won’t leave if
PEL puts more into getting him touches. Now he may be upset with
our fans not showing up all year, I don’t know. I hope he and Pel
have a sit down, and come to a conclusion that is acceptable for
Rotnie and the program.
What I’d like to know, is if Brandon Marcello actually has a reliable source in Dallas to confirm this latest story, then what exactly was said?
Kids become frustrated all the time with current situations.
D.J. Williams thought about transferring to Ole Miss when HDN left, but we didn’t even find out about that story until after the fact.
Rotnie has been known as a proclaimed Christian ever since he was first recruited by Stan Heath.
The entire culture at the UofA may be what’s turning him off, if this rumor actually has any validity at all.
Peyton,
you make it sound so easy to, drive and kick it out. the problem is not that we don’t drive and kick it out, because that is easy to defend. The problem is we don’t have that other shooter they have to defend also. All defenses have to do is one man on rotnie three on cortney and one on powell.
With that said, I do believe that our coaching staff should be smart enough to come up with a few set plays to get him some open looks. Rotnie running from one wing to the other is not going to cut it game after game.
Gonzo, I would lay money on Rotnei wanting to transfer not because of the other players, but because of the results on the court for the second half of the SEC season. It doesnt take a genius to figure out that when you have Rotnei’s work ethic and put that many hours into getting better, that when you don’t see that pay off on the court, its extremely frustrating.
If he wants to transfer, its probably because he thinks he can go to another coach that will know how to utilize him better, and I don’t blame him for that. But i feel like a transfer would not be the best thing for him at this point of his college career.
It would be an interesting stat to know how often a starting player transfers because of personal issues with his teammates or because of the coach and his system (or lack there of).
What I havent seen is penetration and then kicking the ball back out to Rotnei, which is what we should have been doing all along.
Its not Rotnei’s fault that Arkansas has no offensive schemes to get him the ball for an open look, I completely understand why he is frustrated.
***********************************************************************
Absolutely correct. At least not on a routine basis to where you would think it was part of Pel’s system to do so.
Also added to this is getting open looks in transition…which many teams try and do for their best shooters. This has happened only a handfull of times because we don’t do this on a routine basis enough to know if this is part of Pel’s system either.
Basically we don’t do anything offensively on a routine basis that identifies anything remotely what would be considered a system.
Are we an uptempo team? Halfcourt team? What’s our system?? What’s our priority even? It’s a mystery.
I believe that Rotnei also had less playing time there towards the end, with Pelphrey going with the Nobles and Fortson starting at the same time
the only public evidence of Clarke being unhappy with Fortson came when a story appeared about Fortson’s stamina and how well conditioned he is. Clarke commented that it was surprising how strong he was because he’s never in the weight room working out with the rest of the players.
I don’t think Clarke meant it as a criticism, but the fact that Fortson didn’t see the need to be working out and bonding with the guys on the team (at least to me) seems to have irked Clarke, although he was actually praising Fortson for being such a “natural” athlete — I guess a guy who is just talented without putting in the hours in the weight room.
It would bother me if a colleague of mine chose to ignore what was required of me. And it must add to a lack of chemistry on the team, something Pelphrey should have addressed if he hasn’t.
I think you are reading far too much in that statement by Rotnei. When I heard it, I was just surprised that Pelphrey would allow some of his players to slack at the weight room.
but Fortson sure looks like he works out, his BMI looks near to zero.
Go Miss State. Kentucky cry babys(fans and players) are in for a rude awakening in NCAA Tourn.
Miss State has some good coaching
Vernardo is shutting down John Wall! We need a big man defender on our team bad.
Miss State wins!!!!!!!!!!
haha just kidding. COusins sent the game into overtime
This could be the best SEC championship game ive ever seen
Rick Stansbury is one of the most underrated coaches in the country.(IMO). He’s been at Miss st for 12 years. His 2001-02 MSU team compiled the most wins in a single season in school history (27), winning the SEC tournament championship. His teams won the SEC West crown in the 2002-03, 2003-04, 2006-07, 2007-08, and 2009-2010 seasons, with the 2003-04 squad winning the overall SEC regular season championship outright.
Yeah Stansbury is a good coach. Miss St. always seems to be near the top of the West nowadays. Amazing they can get it done routinely there but we can’t here.
Oh well…too bad for state. They had this game in hand. Kentucky as usual…got plenty of no calls and calls and miracle shots go their way again.
Varnado choked on an dunk attempt with a min left, then again later when his lay-up hit the bottom of the rim. John Wall’s shot looked pretty lucky to me but great players have that kind of luck.
he didnt choke, Cousins blocked it
Yeah HE GOT BLOCKED HE CHOKED HE HAS A 7’4 WINGSPAN!!!!
Peyton Hillis traded to the Browns for Quinn.
Wow Mr P you are making more sense than ever these days, what has gotten into you?
Pel is going nowhere at least for a year. Some of you guys’ ignorance baffles me, especially coming from supposedly educated alumni. Have you guys paid any attention to what’s going on at the university? We need to graduate some players before we can make any moves that could set us back again, so any and all of your “make a change” comments are doing absolutely NO GOOD FOR OUR PROGRAM!! So please SHUT THE F UP if you can’t be positive and give support for our program and Pel. Anything short of that and you are only HARMING THESE HOGS that you claim to love. Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. Please actually think (I know that’s hard Peyton) about the potential negative impact of your hot headed comments before you post them out of frustration.
That being said if we have another bad season next year and UCA thrives, and its determined that we could bring in the Big Nasty without losing any scholarship players and harming our graduation rate; hey I’m all for it!
On another note. SEC only gets 4 teams in the Big Dance…all from the East.
No Miss ST and no Ole Miss like some were predicting. I think Miss St. probably should have gotten in but it’s the entire body of work.
So Arkansas finished 3rd in a division that didn’t send ONE team to the NCAA tournament and finished the season playing like the worst team in the league losing 7 out of our last 8 games including to every team below us in the West and the worst team in the East.
And from what I can tell from many of you…NONE of this is John Pelphrey’s fault???
