When Springdale offensive lineman Mitch Smothers visited Arkansas last Saturday, he thought there was a chance he might get a scholarship offer.

The chance soon became a reality when Smothers sat next to Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino after halftime of the Auburn basketball game in Bud Walton arena and Petrino told him of the offer.

Smother, 6-4, 290, 5.1 has been attending Arkansas games since he was 6. The news of him receiving an offer was well received by his family.

“They’re all Razorbacks too and they want me to go there,” said Smothers, who reports a 370-pound bench press, 480 squat and 4.7 pro-shuttle time. “But they’re telling me to consider all of my options.”

Smothers, who graded out at 92 percent and had 111 pancake blocks while allowing only one sack, is drawing strong interest from Missouri and Kentucky. Both schools have said they will offer if he visits during their junior days.

Arkansas’ academic program along with weight room stood out to Smothers during the day-long visit.

“I was real impressed with their weight and conditioning program,” he said. “They evaluate where you are, like your flexibility. If you have bad flexibility then they’ll work on that and if you need to gain or lose weight.”

We have offered three 7A-West OLineman, whats up with that? All
