Forrest City WR Davyon McKinney said he received an offer from Arkansas today.
** 8:50 update- McKinney is 6-3, 180, 4.49 and has interest in Ole Miss and Alabama. He plans to visit other schools and make a decision during the middle of his senior year.

just read espn 150 top recruits and saw that AR has couple of OL or DL, did we offer them?
The interesting thing is that many of the in-state guys getting offers first are ones that I didn’t really know were on the radar screen.

Well, these guys are juniors and I’m sure some haven’t been evaluated. With Petrino offering so early (unlike last year) I believe these guys are his first choice.

I’m very happy we are offering these Arkansans early. We get about 15 committed we can narrow down the out-of-state athletes that we want and recruit them hard instead of having to recruit so many to fill 20 slots.

I’ll be very happy if Arkansas wins 9 games in the 2010 football season. We play some national powerhouse SEC teams. These new recruits will help us get to 9 wins IMO. Go Hogs.

I dont know about all the stars BS, but if Petrino gives them offers then thats good enough for this Hog fan. I really dont think that CBP is gonna give offers to these kids so we can get our asses kicked. He sees something in the kid,not the stars.
I’m a typical loyal Hog fan. I don’t make demands. I’ll be very happy and entertained if Arkansas wins 9 games this 2010 football season.

9 wins is possible in 2010 in football. That would be an improvement over this season and be very successful and I think it’s a possibility of happening.
These 2011 Arkansas recruits may even help Arkansas to win 10 games some year before they graduate. That would be fun to watch them and support them.

I agree but the issue is when instate kids want to sit on the hour for months and months. I hope some of these kids pull the trigger and don’t play the recruiting game too long. To be offered as a WR by Petrino certainly means something.

I searched the Rivals database and I haven’t found any DTs in Forest City. I think 3-5 of this next crop of instate kids are going to be rated 4*. I also think Cook and Frazier will be rated 5*.We should put an awesome class together. I really hope we can get Chris Barnett to call the Hogs.

Just browsed the Texas 2011 recruits & several list Ark as a school of interest.
It’s important to take advantage of playing in Dallas every year and land some of those Texas guys. I like that we are hitting Arkansas hard early. We have that pipeline to Tulsa established and we can do the same with the Dallas area.

Do you know that Texas has a population greater than all the other states that border Arkansas & Arkansas combined. It’s no wonder they have so many good football players. Arkansas & LSU are the two closest SEC schools which should be a big selling point for us.
oldhog, I know LSU hits the Houston area hard. We do need to always recruit Texas.
I was meesing around on that Rivals database earlier and I found that we are going after some great LBs and DEs in the next class. It just looks like the coaching staff isn’t slowing down a bit with the recruiting. Our defense will be a real SEC defense in a couple of seasons.

Oldhog that’s an interesting piece of information regarding the populations of surrounding states. “We need to recruit Texas better. There’s no doubt about that. It’s something we certainly are working hard at”. That sounds like something CBP would say. He is always saying “no doubt about that” and “certain(ly)”. Although I’m making fun of him, I wouldn’t trade coaches with another school other than maybe BAMA. He’s heading us in the exact right direction.

Ron in Germany pretty much feels the same way I do about this cat who calls himself MRPRFCT. That’s why he left, but he’s back now, trying to play nice.

As far as MRPRFCT knowing more than I do, especially about Razorback Sports/recruiting, it never really crossed my mind.

If you’re in any way in the dark on how I feel about a given topic, all you have to do is ask.
I read where BP plans on building a big presence in Texas. They are going to focus on San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth areas. He said they were going to forget about South Florida. They were also going to try and establish recruiting trails in Mississippi. So eventually our recruiting area will be Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, North Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and North Florida. I’m happy to see us getting back into Texas stronger, but I’m happier that we are trying to establish ourselves in Saint Louis and Memphis.
Mississippi is gonna be hard to recruit. It seems everyone
has their hands in Mississippi.
I think with Caldwell we’ll be able to better stick our hands in their too. Hopefully we can start snagging a few of those Olive Branch kids.

I believe I had one with you about “playing with emotions” after the franklin-Georgia game. I don’t have to write something every time I disagree. There is an old say “keep your mouth shut and let people think you are stupid, or open your mouth and let people know you are stupid. I want to know about the razorbacks, I filter out a lot of garbage, but I get tired of reading through your arguments. The razorbacks are why I come to this web site. I would like us to sign a bumper crop from Arkansas, but I don’t see us getting 15. First, I feel Petrino will always recruit nationally more than locally. Second, Some of these kids will go somewhere else. They always do. Third, we don’t know how many will qualify.
I hope to get a list together in the next week or so of players I would like us to go after.

This is going to be a great year for Arkansas recruiting Arkansas kids. I think the Hog teams with a heavy mix of Arkansas kids has always performed better on the field. Just my opinion.

I googled up Davyon McKinney. Scout has a profile on him, even though the evaluation process isn’t over yet, and there’s several other links about him as well.
He looks like a good prospect.

NOW ABOUT “BIG TEX” This guy is a once in a generation running back. He is huge and moves like a much smaller man. Patrino will love this guy if he comes in at about 260 and will use him in a spread offense with his “best in the SEC wide receivers set”

Sorry (hawgfan100, gonzohog) that I got into the garbage last night wont happen again. I think big tex will move to defense pretty quick. I watched several videos on him and he is very shifty for a big guy, but i think the sec may be to quick for him to preform those kinda moves. I think his weight will be the determining factor. i could be wrong

That article does not list Trey Daniels as having an offer. Daniels is reporting an offer.
How about them HOGS!!!! Who would have thought a couple of weeks ago we would be in this position.

It sure seems that way doesn’t it. Maybe I should find out what all these parents fed these young men for breakfast. I have an 8 month old who would look pretty good in a Razorback uniform someday.
Gonzohog, thanks for the information about Arkansas 360. They have some great articles about sports in Arkansas. Since I live in Colorado, information about all the Arkansas activities is hard to come by.
CBP has really done his homework one this class! Offering kids like Mitch Smothers before a Travis Bodenstein really caught my eye. I really wasn`t even aware of Smothers but talk about passing the eye test! I really hope CBP doesn`t shy away from Wesleigh Foster. I Know CBP loves big backs but this kid is an SEC talent.(IMO) Also I wonder if we recruit Dylan Hale if it will be at WR instead of RB? In the summer during 7on7`s Dylan kill`s folks wonder if CBP is interested in Hale? I also seen are main competition (Missouri) for RB Kody Walker already has a commit from St. Louis RB Anthoney Pierson maybe that help sway Walker to be a Hawg.
