COURTNEY GASTON
LB – FR – 6-5 –225 – Ft. Gibson, Okla. (Ft. Gibson HS)
Petrino’s Take: “He’s a big guy that can really run, with very, very strong hands, very strong arms. He’s a guy that has endless potential. I think he has the ability to read, run downhill, tackle and cover. That’s something we talked about a lot during recruiting is, we get longer at linebacker and taller at linebacker, your ability to cover is a lot better because quarterbacks don’t like to throw the ball when you have length and size in there. He’s a guy we think will be a very, very good football player for us, and we’re certainly happy to have him. He was also a rodeo guy. I don’t know if he won the state championship, but he is a very good rodeo guy.”

I have always liked Courtney. He will be a beast in a couple years ! ! ! Write that down !
Richard: thanks for your hard work and all the enjoyment you have given us over this recruiting year. It is very much appreciated.
Can you imagine a 6-5 LB with SEC type ability ! Wow! WPS ! Go Hogs !
with that height, its hard to believe he’ll stay at LB for us for his entire stay…looks to project as a Demarcus Ware type outside rush end in a 3-4 scheme.
Should be interesting to see how Willy uses this new influx of size and athleticism that needs some polishing but many have the potential to be All-SEC caliber players.
Courtney is my choice for “sleeper” player of this class. I can see him with his height and speed with an additional 25-30 lbs of muscle wreaking havoc at either LB or rush DE.
I agree with all the above. Great looking kid.
I don’t see Gaston playing rush end when we signed one already for this class.
Not with Chris Smith on board, no…I think Courtney gets a shot at LB, perhaps, with his size, in the middle?
He’s a fourstar in my book. Definately a prototype SEC linebacker. This Class is not the 48th in the country, I’ve been looking at the teams ranked ahead of us. BYU is supposedly 40th, they have 3 four stars and 15 three stars. We have 3 four stars and 18 three stars. So whoever ranks these classes at rivals needs to figure it out. Look out for this class, I expect them to be involved in multiple championships. Welcome to Hog Nation men. WPS
Looks like a middle linebacker to me. Somebody needs to get rid of Bob Stoops since he lost so many top Oklahoma in state prospects to Arkansas. Just kidding of course!
hey Stoops is one of our best recuiters U of A needs to put him on pay roll
If Stoops loses to Texas and doesn`t win 8 games he will be on the hot seat.(He`ll wish he`d taking the Notre Dame job)
Gaston is your prototypical LB that most of the other good teams in America (Alabama, Florida, USC, etc) are use to having. When Hog fans start asking, where’s our tall LB’s, that’s when the Razorback defense might be at the next level. 6’0″ to 6’2″ is okay for a MLB, but you need guys in the 6’3″ to 6’5″ range at OLB if you want to seriously compete in the SEC on a year-to-year basis. Petrino has the Hogs on their way.
that looks like a Nebraska helmet
Has anyone heard anything about Scott Smith. The only thing that I could find is that Tommy tuberville thought he would be on campus in early spring. It also said scotts LOI was binging. Does anyone know if he has made an appeal or not?
As with many of the recruits, this kid has incredible potential. The Razorbacks should be playing some very serious D in the near future and for years to come.
Is that his high school helmet or Arkansas new Nike uniform????
This guy reminds me of Keith Bullock…can’t wait to see him suit up in a Hog uni! Richard is he gonna qualify?
Gaston actually was a 4* early on Rivals. He was downgraded to 3*.
definitely linebacker height and size….look at Rolando mcclain. 6’4” and 240. We need some taller, longer, bigger, stronger guys. I think Franklin though will continue to shine and only get better for the HOGS! WPS
