BYRAN JONES
DT – FR – 6-2 – 310 – Junction City, Ark. (Junction City HS)
ALAN TURNER
ATH – FR – 6-0 – 185 – Junction City, Ark. (Junction City HS)
Petrino’s Take: “This is obviously a guy we are very excited about. A great football player; he is very physical. The great thing about Bryan is that he seems to never come off the field. He played offensive tackle, defensive tackle, some defensive end, kicked the extra points for field goals for them, he is just a great football player. Obviously we feel that he will come in and contribute and compete to play right away, much like D.D. Jones did a year ago. He is a special, special football player, and we are very excited to have him. There was a lot of energy and effort that went into recruiting him with the entire staff and we did a great job in the recruiting process.”
Petrino’s Take: “Alan is a running back and safety, 6-0, 185 pounds from Junction City High School. We are going to line Alan up at safety. He is very physical, very fast and very athletic. I think he will be a very good football player for us. We are real excited to have him and we can’t say enough about Alan.”

We as hog fans were truly blessed to get the DT’s we wanted. And Turner will fill out nicely too !
Welcome to the “Hog Nation”! These are quality young men, and great football players. Their families, Junction City, and the State of Arkansas can be proud!
Welcome to Hog Nation. I know that you will help the team to a BCS win. I’m originally from Crossett (graduated in 1970) and it always makes me proud to see South Arkies play for the Razorbacks!
Can u imagine having Byron, DD and Beachum (if it doesn’t work out @ RB) all on the DL together? That is a big fast athletic line that would truly be SEC caliber. I can’t wait til September.
I didn’t realize that Turner was a two time state 200 meter champion in track. Sounds like he has the wheels that needed to compete.
Richard,
Thanks for all of your hard work! What is the word on Calvin Barnett and Bryan Jones qualifying?
Richard,
Is Byron Jones in good shape to qualify?
Is Calvin going to qualify?
Who are the most likely to be placed in JC?.
Thanks for any prelim info. I know these things can change, but would like to know if they are close to or already qualified. ( I know, I know they have to graduate also)
Plenty of talk about Byran, and rightfully so, but I am really excited about Alan. He can really run and hit. I think he will turn out to be one of those guys that we look back on in three years and say, “Wow!”
Are these guys qualified academically or are some of them going to be “sign and place”?
Before NSD there were so many people on here complaining about DEs and DTs. What more could we want?….. Byran Jones, Calvin Barnett, LaCraig Brown, Jeremiah Jackson.
Who’s complaining now?
chris smith, brad hefley
