I have tried several times to get those links and keep getting nothing.
It is very nice that we do get some top quality recruits from Oklahoma.
This class is a very nice class. I see, as coach Petrino says, length, speed and strength in these new players. They may surprise us all as time goes by.
Did you see the video of the number one RB in the country (Marcus Lattimore) pull out an Auburn hat but on the way up to put it on his head he pulled out a South Carolina hat that was inside the Auburn hat.
I would have loved to see the look on Chizik’s and Malzahn’s face. They were probably high fiving each other before he pulled out the South Carolina hat.

a lot of OSU fans was saying some nasty stuff about this kid and hour program because he signed with arkansas. What a bunch of no class fans, to me the rank up there with LSU and FLorida fans. Bunch of morons bashing a kid. THey called us a mediocre bottom the sec school, but I think they lost to a bottom of the pack sec school right, oh yeah Ole miss
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Two weeks after taking the job, Tennessee coach Derek Dooley announced he is hiring Boise State’s Justin Wilcox to be his defensive coordinator.
The 33-year-old Wilcox has spent the last four seasons at Boise State, leading the Western Athletic Conference in total defense and scoring defense each year. The Broncos were 14th nationally in total defense last season, as they went 14-0 and beat TCU in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
Wilcox played defensive back for Oregon from 1995-99 and has also worked as an assistant at California. He said the Tennessee job was “too good to pass up.”
Wilcox will succeed longtime NFL coordinator Monte Kiffin.
Boise State announced that defensive line coach Pete Kwiatkowski will replace Wilcox as the Broncos’ defensive coordinator.
His HS coach was just on Shawn and Wally. He said he weighs 306 and he eats lunch with him everyday now. Has him running the stairs. Has the cafeteria fixing him salads for lunch. Big Tex came home from his visit and said Coach, they weighed me at Ark. I need help.
Blake, Lemming is very impressed with our class. He has talked about how he can tell the difference between a productive player at a small school vs a semi productive player in a large school. Even he gets it wrong sometimes.
Talked about Petrino recruiting system. Being National. Every year he see’s a marked improvement. Impressed with our DT’s. Every school is looking for great recruiters. Thinks Walker will be a good QB. He says Pkg deals are a good thing. They happen more than we know.
“You guys know that I’m not really much into the ratings and really don’t even know how we are rated and really don’t much care how we’re rated. Every year I try to come up with some analogy to sort of put in perspective how you should rate recruiting classes. If we went out to buy a hunting dog and it was a puppy, we would buy it based on its potential, its lineage or whatever you want to call it in terms of breeding, and we would know probably when that dog grew up whether it was a good hunting dog or not. We’d never know until we put him out in the field and saw him actually go hunting, but we would buy it without knowing for sure what that result would be.” Nick Saban
This is coming from the best recruiter in college football.
Just happens that if Alabama recruits and that if Saban is recruiting you that other coaches and scouts take notice as well. Then you tend to have an extra star or two by your name. Petrino has an eye for talent the same as Saban and picks talent based on his system’s needs just like Saban. Let’s put our dogs on the field and see if they can hunt.
I have gotten to where I just hate seeing the way some of these kids announce their intentions. The Lattimore thing is a perfect example. Why disrespect a group of coaches that have been showing you love and gave you an opportunity to come get a free education at their school? I know these are 17 and 18 year old kids and some just lack the maturity to know better. You’d think a parent or coach would step in and guide them. OSU fans are blasting Barnett because he said he was going to do something “flashy” then picked UA over the team he’d been saying all along he was going to. I understand their frustration. Some of the comments at that link were way overboard, though. They attacked Barnett, McGee, Petrino, the UofA, our fans, the hog call, etc. One even suggested the NCAA investigate the program because of the way we are pulling in Oklahoma talent. LOL! Sorry Cowpokes, you gotta get over it. You’re not the only team that’s gotten hosed.
I agree that package deals are not a totally bad thing. However, the timing of offering Mosley was very odd! He should have just done it in the first place, especially to have more homegrown Arkansas boys on the team.
I agree with YMGTC. I don’t like the flashy ceremonies that play with people’s emotions. I think it is disrespectful to the coaches and to the fans. But then again, if I were a coach, I would never watch one of the signing ceremonies. Just wait on the fax to come in. That’s the only thing that matters.
At least Barnett didn’t take off an OSU jacket to show his UA colors. That would have been worse, but I can definitely understand OSU fans being upset. We have had the same thing happen to us, and it is very frustrating. I’m glad Barnett’s a HOG, but I’m not a fan of the “flashy” ceremonies.
Speaking of recruits playing games, did anyone else read the comments on Dyer in the article linked above? Chizik said he played some practical jokes in the days leading up to NSD. I wonder if he told them he was switching to Ark because we made an offer to Mosley and then switched back (maybe when Lattimore picked SC). Don’t know, just hypothesizing.
One other thing…it looks like Brey Cook is interested in OU. If he is a 5* recruit and he goes to OU, that would look really bad on CBP to lose two 5*s in a row. Frazier is going to be a hard sell too. Hopefully they both love the HOGS as much as we do, and will want to be a part of building a championship caliber team here at home.
I would love to see Frazier and Dean both come to UA and create another QB U. Guys could line up on the depth chart and wait for their turn to lead the nation in passing and get a shot at the NFL (like Texas Tech and USC).
We defintely need to keep Cook home. He’s a big-time OT. We need Frazier too. You know if he doesn’t go to Arkansas he’ll end up at Auburn. The last thing we need is two 5 star Arkansans playing for the enemy.
MrP, the funny thing is, that you are exactly right. Every time I see those two guys’ names together, I think of Brandon Dean — one of the most exciting guard dunkers in the history of UA BB.
Offering Mosley late was only to derail the AU coaching staff off of Byran Jones.
Dyer and Mosley were supposed to be AU’s “package deal”, so the UofA offering Mosley on the last night before NSD made AU own up to it’s promise.
I heard a lot of posters here commenting about how this left the UofA and the coaching staff with egg on their face. That’s a joke to say the very least.
If you want to run with the big boys, you had better be able to beat them at their own game. We did that.
I did not know that Auburn is a “big boy”. I think our offer to Mosley was genuine. I don’t think Petrino was playing a game there. We offered much too late. Oh well.
OU was the first to offer Brey Cook(Ark should have been the first to offer). Demetrius Dean will move to TE in college I believe he was the first in-state offer for 2011. I would bet my savings on Cook and Frazier will be 5*.
As far as the flashy ceremonies go, this is something that these kids will only do 1 time in their life. Remember back when you guys were this age. It is all in good fun and as far as the opposing coaches go. These guys are professionals and have all been down this road before. Fans probably get their feelings hurt more than the coaches. It’s just business as usual for them. Some see it as disrespect but I’m sure to the coaching staff, it’s no big deal other than being a little disappointed it wasn’t their schools logo underneath the hat or jacket.
Traditionally yes, Auburn is a “big boy” in the SEC.
Players look at tradition of a program and Auburn’s is much more stellar as of late, compared to the UofA over the past 25 years..
We’ve never had a Bo Jackson at the UofA or went undefeated in the SEC.
We don’t have a tradition game against ‘Bama like the Iron Bowl either.
When recruiting against that kind of a sales pitch, how do we counter?
I don’t know. When I think of the SEC big boys I think of Florida, Alabama, LSU, and Georgia. I guess beating Auburn as often as we have makes me not respect them as much. I’m sure many Arkansans feel this way.
One thing we can all agree on is that the SEC should be the dominant league for years to come. Heck even Miss St will be relevant in the coming years as long a Dan stays there anyway.
I agree. I also believe the recruits let the coaches know what’s going to happen.
It’s more of a show for the fans than anything else and let’s the kids have a little fun.
The thing that I see as hurtful, is if a kid doesn’t pan out to be as good as everyone said he was.
Fans are relentless and say stupid things they know nothing about.
That would be like Ole Miss fans saying they don’t respect Arkansas as much just because they’ve beaten us the last 2 years.
All programs go through slumps. Alabama did it for several years not too long ago. Didn’t we beat them a few times? We still don’t compare to them traditionally either. That’s why they just go out and pick their recruits once a great coach/recruiter like Saban comes on board.
Tradition in the SEC counts. This isn’t the SWC
I don’t know. Auburn hasn’t sniffed the West division title only once this past decade I think. I don’t see them doing it at all this next decade either.
What did I disagree with you about? I was under the impression a subject could be continued as long as there wasn’t any direct disagreement. Am I right?
Somebody said he said something about Dyer being afraid of the competition at Arkansas. I have not seen a link or anything to something to back it up though.
It’s probably true. The way Auburn is recruiting, I am sure you will eventually have it there too. We need to stop this pipeline to Auburn. They are getting a few 4-star and 5-star players out of Arkansas the last 3 years.
We are surrounded by coaches now with Arkansas connections. Texas Tech, Ole Missy, and Auburn. It’s funny Nutt can’t seem to land anything. Kind of shows how folks think of him.

The Tulsa pipeline is very good. I would love to get the same thing goin on in the Dallas/Fort worth area
Did you guys watch the video of Calvin signing and doing the switcharoo with the jacket and sweater vest. I thought that was pretty cool.
Where is that video Hog in OKC?
Where can you see that video Hog in OKC?…
I found it on the Tulsa World website. Google Calvin Barnett and it should pop up and be the first option.

Scroll down a little bit for the video.
I liked how the whole family got in on the act. Hilarious, unless your an OSU fan..

those two kids look like some pretty humble kids. Does anyone know if Barnett will make the field
Trey Biddy just said there were possibly as many as 4 who might not qualify. The goal is to get 23 of these kids on campus.
Also of all the kids Nutt sent to JUCO over 10 years, Brandon Barnett was the only one who came back to Arkansas.
Trey also said Brey Cook might possibly become a 5* next year !
And Brandon Allen may end up being a 4 star.
The elite instate talent will run deeper next year for sure !
I wonder if Kiehl Frazier will make a 5* ?
I have a question in for Randy Rainwater. He said he will email me the info. I will post it asap.
I bet he does. I seriously think we will offer 15-20 instate athletes next year.
Trey also said next years class should be a large class.
We might even pull an Auburn and over sign! WPS ! ! !
I was surprised to hear Ark st signed only 6 instate. And UCA signed 6 as well I think.

Have I ever said anything that wasnt a fact?
Ron in Germany,
I don’t doubt it – he sure looks like it to me. He looks like Oliver Miller to me. Maybe he could play for CJP and create some space around the goal.

He’s eating his way right onto the D line, just where we really want him. If he wants to run the ball he better lose about 50-60 lbs.
Talked about Petrino recruiting system. Being National. Every year he see’s a marked improvement. Impressed with our DT’s. Every school is looking for great recruiters. Thinks Walker will be a good QB. He says Pkg deals are a good thing. They happen more than we know.

So am I, good night class.

Poeple can think what they want about Auburn. Maybe I am the only one who doesn’t get it.
How does a coach with a 5-16 record (I think) come to Auburn and go 7-5. Recruit a top 5 class out of the box.
I think they are cheating and I hope they get caught soon ! Real soon !
2 words. Trooper Taylor.
Radio Jay,
That would be like Ole Miss fans saying they don’t respect Arkansas as much just because they’ve beaten us the last 2 years.

Auburn isn’t Iowa St. and this isn’t Chizik’s first rodieo at AU.
He has the southern connections, I’m sure.
Auburn ain’t no Alabama.
BTW ole miss doesn’t respect us. Never have.
They’re closer than we are.
I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree, before it get’s ugly, again.
I don’t know. Auburn hasn’t sniffed the West division title only once this past decade I think. I don’t see them doing it at all this next decade either.
*but only once
That’s fine. I’d rather agree to disagree, Gonzo.
Did you like the recruits they landed this year? I’m sure it was only because of Trooper Taylor though.
I wish we could beat Florida, at least once anyway.
I wasn’t saying Trooper Taylor is such an awesome recruiter. I wrote Trooper Taylor because Ron mentioned cheating.
If Auburn puts together a string of clsses like this one they will be at the top of the SEC west along with Hogs and Bama.
My understanding of the concept “agree to disagree” is that when both parties do agree to disagree the subject is dropped. Am I right?
I didn’t say he was an awesome recruiter either. Please, don’t put words in my mouth. It’s not nessesary.
How bout them Hawgs !
What did I disagree with you about? I was under the impression a subject could be continued as long as there wasn’t any direct disagreement. Am I right?
Nevermind. Go Hogs!
Your right Ron. How bout them Hogs!
Great job guys ! I’m proud of “Both” of you !
