Junior running back Trey Daniels of Pine Bluff Dollarway has seen games involving UAPB and Grambling, but that didn’t prepare him for his experience at the Troy game last weekend.

“It made a big impression on me,” said Daniels, whose drawing interest from Arkansas, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Kansas State, Stanford and Duke. “I enjoyed the experience. That was my first game at Arkansas. I really like how they treated me and my family; it seems like a good environment.”

Daniels, 6-1, 225, 4.56 rushed 187 times for 1,231 yards, 11 touchdowns making 11 catches for 200 yards this season. He has nice strength with a 325-pound bench press and 550 squat.

Coach Cortez Lee said Daniels is bruising type of running back.

“He’s a very big running back,” Lee said. “He has deceptive speed. He possesses a real strong will to run between the tackles. His greatest asset is his durability, he can withstand a little bit of punishment.”

Lee said he had numerous college coaches asking about Daniels when they visited during the spring evaluation period.

“They liked his size and they liked his skill set for the position he plays,” Lee said. “They liked a lot of things about him.”

Daniels was able to talk to recruiting coordinator Tim Horton before the game.

“He was saying they can’t really talk to me right now as a junior but he’ll be able to talk to me next year.” he said.

The Arkansas crowd had Daniels fired up.

“I feel like if I’m playing with the fan base behind me like that and good coaches on the sideline,” Daniels said. “I feel like I could play well with that behind me.
