Arkansas commitment and defensive lineman Jeremiah Jackson’s strong senior season despite getting extra attention from opposing offensive linemen has helped Spain Park to the quarterfinals of the Class 6A playoffs.

The Jackson family“It’s been a great year,” Jackson said. “I’ve been working hard in practice and coach has us watching a lot of film and we’re winning so it’s been a great year so far. You get doubled and tripled teamed but that can’t be any excuses, you still have to make plays.”

Jackson, 6-2, 265, 4.8 of Hoover, (Ala.) picked the Razorbacks over several schools, including Auburn, Ole Miss and others. The hard work of linebacker coach Reggie Johnson convinced Jackson to make an unofficial visit to Fayetteville in June and ultimately become a Hog.

“He was sending me e-mails and letter and telling      me how great of a place it is,” Jackson said. “I just figured if I was going to hear all these things I needed to come down and see it for myself and once we got down here we realized everything he was saying was true.”

Being from Alabama, Jackson is use to fans being split between two SEC West schools.

“Everyone seems to be as one here,” said Jackson of Arkansas.”Alabama, you have Alabama and Auburn and the state is split in half. Its great being in a place where everyone is one, everyone is for Arkansas. Everyone knows the recruits; it’s a lot of fun. It’s great experience.”
