Texas defensive end/outside linebacker Paul Crawford, who has the Arkansas coaches enthused about his size, speed and tireless work ethic, took an unofficial visit to Arkansas for the Troy game over weekend.
“It was pretty nice,” Crawford said. “The coaches were very welcoming. It’s a good program, nice setup, nice stadium, nice campus. I like it a lot.”
Crawford, 6-8, 240, 4.65 of Hebron high school in Carrollton has scholarship offers from offers from Colorado State, Mississippi State and Idaho State along with receiving strong interest from Arkansas, TCU, Florida State, Utah, Michigan, Arizona and others.
“The game atmosphere is amazing,” Crawford said. “I’ve been on the field and its way different. It would be nice to play on that field.”
Crawford has a reputation of being a hard worker on and off the field. A trait he knows has to continue when he starts his college career.
“My worth ethic has to be through the roof,” Crawford said. “You can’t take any days (off) or a slack off. Everyday has to be a day for a chance to get better, every single day. If I stay that way and keep working and hit the books, study, hit the weight room and hit the field. The sky’s the limit.”
Crawford, who recorded 33 unassisted tackles, 28 assisted tackles, 1 sack and 1 tackle for a loss this season, has a stingy attitude when it comes to defense.
“As a defensive player, I say one yard is too much,” he said. “My job is to stop the person in front of me. So in the weight room, my job is to be better than the person in front of me.”
