Arkansas’ willingness to allow two-sport athletes to play multiple sports has the attention of punter/place kicker Cole Way, who’s also an outstanding pitcher in baseball.

Way, 6-8, 202 of Tulsa Union made an unofficial visit to Arkansas for the South Carolina game.

“That’s why Arkansas really stands out to me,” Way said. “Most of the other schools just want me to just play football but Arkansas is really encouraging me and showing me they would let me do both.”

In addition to Arkansas, Way is also drawing interest from Alabama, LSU, Kansas, Iowa State and Oregon.

“It was a blast,” said Way of the game experience. “We were a few miles from the stadium and you could see the tailgaters, the kids all face painted up and everything.  It was crazy atmosphere, it was awesome. The fans love that place. The fan base is just crazy. Everyone loves the team down there. The facilities are brand new and awesome. They’re top dollar facilities.”

Way, whose older brother, Tress, place kicks and punts for Oklahoma, is 9 of 9 on field goals, including a 51 and 55 yarder and averages about 42 yards per punt this season.

Leo and Debra Way accompanied their son his visit.

“They loved it,” Way said. “They had a blast too. My mom really liked the woo pig sooie chant. She was screaming it.”

Way’s fastball has been clocked at 85-90 mile per hour.

“I talked to the baseball coaches while I was down there,” said Way, who throws left-handed. “I talked to (assistant) coach (Todd) Butler, he’s really nice guy. Their baseball facilities are ridiculous too.”
