Cornerback Kevin King, who flew up with his father for an unofficial visit for the eastern Michigan game, said Fayetteville beats his hometown of Jacksonville, Fla., in two areas.
“I like the city,” King said. “There’s not that much traffic like in Jacksonville. I liked the temperature; it was not hot like it is in Jacksonville.”
King, 5-9, 163, 4.51 of Ribault High is receiving interest from Arkansas, Central Florida and South Florida. He has record about 50 tackles and has returned 2 interceptions for 50 and 41 yards touchdowns.
Cornerback Kevin King, who was recently named All District and has been selected to play in the Florida-Georgia all star game, said he doesn’t mind being aggressive on the football field.
“I’m very physical,” King said. “I’m a lockdown corner and I like to tackle, too.”
“They’ve been sending me a lot of letters and I wanted to see what it was like there,” King said.
King, who is being recruited by offensive coordinator and receivers coach Paul Petrino, said he wanted to check out Arkansas after receiving numerous letters from the Hogs.
“He said he wanted a highlight tape of this year and last year on one tape,” King said. “He said he plans to come back down to Jacksonville after the season to see me.”
King, who said he enjoyed the stadium and the pregame Hog Walk, was surprised by what he saw once he got to Fayetteville.
“It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be,” King said. “I thought it was going to be a lot of farms and stuff. It was better than I thought it would be. I liked it.”
Arkansas has offered King’s teammate, receiver Javon Bell, who’s considered a top prospect.
“He’s one of my closest friends on the team,” said King, who reports 36-inch vertical. “I told him it was nice up there. He said he wished he could’ve gone so he could see what it was like.”
King, who reports a 2.9 GPA, hopes to study sports medicine or sports management in college.
