The chance to interact with Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino before the Eastern Michigan game was the highlight of Oklahoma tight end Cody Nall’s visit last weekend.

“Just to have Coach Petrino come to my table and get to meet him in person and shake his hand and be able to talk to him,” Nall said. “That was by far one of the best things to happen when I was there. I’ve been to OU and OSU and talked to the assistant coaches but never the head coach. It was a real good experience for me. Sitting there with Coach Petrino and my family was the best part of the visit. That’s one of the best feelings I’ve ever had.”

In addition to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, Nall has visited Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State.

Nall, 6-6, 258, 4.98 of Ardmore visited the Hogs during a preseason practice in August. He said the visit was a very enjoyable experience.

“I’ve wanted to go up there for a good while now,” said Nall, who caught 7 passes for about 176 yards as junior in a run oriented offense. “I had a great time. I’m really anxious to get back up there again.”

So far this season, Nall has 13 receptions for 238 yards, 2 touchdowns while recording 6 tackles and 2 sacks

Quarterback Coach Garrick McGee, who’s the lead recruiter of Nall, has let him know how much the Razorbacks like his size.

“He was telling me how excited they were about me and they wanted to get me up there,” said Nall, who was accompanied by his parents on the visit. “He’s told me several times that they really like my size. They’ve seen my film and they see me as a big physical target. He said Coach Petrino really likes big tall guys. They like me at tight end and possibly even some defense.

Nall appreciated the hospitality he received while in Fayetteville.

“The whole staff welcomed me there,” Nall said. “I just felt a big difference from what I’ve gotten from other schools. Coach McGee is a great guy. He played for a coach that I played for in my freshmen year. It’s been easy to develop a good friendship with Coach McGee.”

Assistant director of academics Dann Kabala also impressed Nall.

“When I first walked in Mr. Kabala was just real nice,” Nall said. “He’s good about giving us information.”

Nall’s parents were equally impressed with their time spent in Fayetteville..

“They loved it,” said Nall, who averaged about 10 points and 10 rebounds in basketball. “They’re just as excited as me about me getting up there as myself. They felt welcomed and had a great time. We talked about setting up an official visit sometime in December.”
