A Hurricane through and through

Often when a high school prospect makes his or her oral commitment to a college, the recruit will have a change of heart and choose another school.
Van Buren linebacker Quentin George, who committed to Tulsa in June, is unlikely to rescind his commitment from the Hurricanes.
“There’s other schools pursuing me but when I committed to Tulsa that’s what I meant and I’m sticking to it,” George said. “I’m not changing my mind. No one is going to change my mind. Even if USC offered me I’m still going to the University of Tulsa.”
George, who has been timed at 4.16-seconds in the pro-shuttle, recorded 48 tackles, 6 tackles for losses, 1 sack, 5 pass break ups and 1 interception while playing on both sides of the ball last year.
His visit to the Tulsa campus persuaded him to play his football at the Conference USA School.
“I when I got there it just felt like home,” said George, who has recorded a 35-inch vertical. “The campus is beautiful. I met the coaches and they treated me like my coaches do now. It’s real nice up there and real good coaches.”
The 6-2 George said he’s increased his weight by taking in more protein and lifting weights.
“I’ve gained about 15 pounds,” George said. “I weigh about 235 right now. I’m still running a 4.6 flat. I’ve increased my max quite a bit. I squat about 475 now and bench 310.”
