New school = new attention for RB

Texas running back Robert Marshall is hoping a new school will result in scholarship offers.

Marshall, 6-0, 220, 4.62 attended Mesquite High School last season but has transferred to A. Maceo Smith in Dallas. Due to playing in a spread offense and missing time with an injury, Marshall compiled minimal yardage on the ground. That shouldn’t be the case with his new school.

“Basically all we do is run,” Marshall said. “That’s why I like the school.”

Marshall and his father attended Arkansas’ junior day in the spring.

“They told me to wait until the first or second game and send them some film.” Marshall said of the Razorbacks.

He planned to attend Arkansas’ senior camp in July but pulled hamstring when he didn’t properly warm up before a workout and wasn’t able to attend. He said he’s 100 percent now.

Marshall is drawing interest from Arkansas, Kansas, Tennessee and others, including Ohio State.

“I went to their camp a few months ago and competed and now they’re starting to send me mail,” Marshall said of the Buckeyes.

Marhall said he plans to attend the Ohio State-USC, Oklahoma-Texas games along with games involving Kansas and Arkansas. He said the Hog’s matchup against Texas A&M in the new Dallas Cowboy stadium will give him an opportunity to see the Razorbacks.

“I probably going to try and get to that one.” Marshall said.

Marshall, who said he knows former Mesquite and current Arkansas receiver Reggie Fish, liked what he saw of Arkansas on his earlier visit.

“They compete in the SEC and to me that’s one of the better conferences you can play in,” said Marshall, who reports a 300-pound bench press, 400 squat and a 4.15 pro-shuttle time. “I like their facilities.”
