The spring evaluation period will be important for safety Desmond Martin of Round Rock, Texas.
Martin, 6-1, 185, 4.49 doesn’t have any offers at this time but is receiving interest from Arkansas, Baylor, Rice, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Boise State, Wyoming and Houston. He said most of the schools have indicated they plan to watch him during spring practice.
“I like the attention,” said Martin, who has 45 tackles, 2 pass breakups and 1 recovered fumble. “Just knowing other schools are interested in me but at the same time it can be too much when you’re getting swamped by all the mail and phone calls.”
Martin said Wyoming, Tulsa and Rice are recruiting him the hardest. He said he’s considering attending camps at Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Texas A&M, SMU, Tulsa and Kansas State this summer.
“Tulsa said if I would go to their one day camp, they would probably offer me if I had a good showing,” Martin said. “Baylor said similar to that too.”
Martin said he’s considering several options for majors in college, including engineering, sports management or kinesiology.
