While Arkansas is actively recruiting defensive linemen for the 2009 class, the Razorbacks are hard at work finding run stoppers for the 2010 class.
Shreveport Evangel defensive tackle Brandon Jackson, who reports a scholarship offer from the Hogs, made an unofficial visit to Arkansas for the Tulsa game.
“I enjoyed my visit,” said Jackson, whose cousin is current Hog cornerback Ramon Broadway. “The facilities were great, the hospitality was great. I loved it up there. I loved the scenery. I didn’t feel out of place when I stepped on campus. I just enjoyed the overall feel when I visited there.”
Jackson (6-4, 270, 4.95) said he’s receiving interest from Tulane, Arizona, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech. He plays on the offensive and defensive line for the Eagles.
Jackson said he’s record around 81 tackles along with 10 to 15 sacks for the 11-1 Eagles, who play 11-1 Many on Friday night.
Jackson, who plays several instruments including the tenor saxophone, tuba and the baritone along with the piano, plans to major in music education and eventually wants to be a director of a band or orchestra along with composing music for movies.
“My whole family sings at church my aunt and uncle were in band and were very talented,” said Jackson, who reports a 305-pound bench press. “One was percussion and the other was a wind person. I’m more of a wind guy.”
