Arkansas basketball signee Jason Henry has been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse and will be able to play this season for the Hogs.

A scout’s life

Also on Tuesday, I featured football scout Randy Rodgers, who has more than 50 major colleges as clients. Based out of Austin, Texas, Rodgers coached 29 years on the college and high school level. He served as the recruiting coordinator at Illinois and Texas under Coach John Mackovic.

Kentucky lands another QB

Kentucky added their second top rated QB to the 2009 recruiting class on Thursday when Morgan Newton, 6-4, 210 of Carmel, Ind., orally committed to the Wildcats over Indiana, Florida, Clemson and Indiana.

Batesville has quite a bit of talent this year and is expecting to contend for another 5A conference title this year. On defense, the Pioneers feature defensive end Price Holmes and linebacker Weston Fairchild.

Fontana update

New Orleans offensive lineman Joey Fontana will announce his decision after his team finishes practice tonight. Fontana told me he should announce around 9:30 or 10:00 pm Friday.  Fontana has 9 scholarship offers, including one from the Hogs.
