At Hoxie, a lot of college recruiters have focused on defensive lineman Derek Johnson, who orally committed to Texas. But receiver Adam Madden is another Mustang colleges are looking at. Madden, 6-0, 165, 4.41, caught 16 passes for 291 yards and 2 touchdowns last season.
He attended the Bobby Petrino football camp June 1-3 as well as Memphis and Ouachita Baptist camps. He’s made unofficial visits to Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Arkansas State. He hopes to visit Tulsa and Baylor in the near future.
Madden showed excellent speed at the camp in Fayetteville last year with a 4.41 40 time and this year with a 4.42 time. His latest time caught the attention of the Arkansas coaches and other in-state coaches who were in attendance.
“There were like 500 kids there and I was just another kid until I ran the forties,” Madden said. “That opened up a lot of doors and got my name out there.”
Madden said assistant coach Tim Horton made a visit to the school during the spring and plans to attend Hoxie’s first game against Searcy. He said he hopes to make Arkansas’ senior camp July 19.
