Hoxie receiver catches eyes of coaches

At Hoxie, a lot of college recruiters have focused on defensive lineman Derek Johnson, who orally committed to Texas. But receiver Adam Madden is another Mustang colleges are looking at. Madden, 6-0, 165, 4.41, caught 16 passes for 291 yards and 2 touchdowns last season.

El Dorado players gear up for busy July

El Dorado safety Greg Carter and running backs Dexter Toney and Justin Billings appear to have a busy July planned. Carter and Toney have both been invited to Mississippi State’s senior camp, while Carter may attend the Ole Miss camp and Arkansas senior camp July 19.

Baseball America high on the Hogs

In today’s column, I wrote about Arkansas’ highly touted recruiting class in baseball. If the Razorbacks are able to hold on to the remaining signees and not lose any more to major league baseball, the class could be one of the best in the nation according to Jim Callis of Baseball America.

The national recognition for Little Rock Christian junior running back Michael Dyer is just starting and probably won’t stop anytime soon. New Era Scouting lists Dyer as the third-rated prospect in the Class of 2010.

University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Coach Josh Newman had a banner season last year, going 28-4 and winning a conference title. At one point, his team was ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation.
