A big week has become even bigger for Bentonville this week.

The Tigers (7-3-1, 6-3) were already scheduled to play a home match Tuesday against Springdale High and a Friday match at Rogers High. Now the Tigers started the week at home Monday against Springdale Har-Ber in a match that was postponed Friday because of inclement weather, and all of those teams are in the middle of a five-team race near the top of the 7A-West standings.

One of the Lady Tigers’ season goals is within reach this week.

If Bentonville (14-2, 9-0) can sweep its three matches, beginning with Monday’s rescheduled home match against Springdale Har-Ber, the Lady Tigers can wrap up at least a share of the 7A-West Conference championship and the league’s No. 1 seed for the Class 7A girls state tournament, which begins May 11 at Fort Smith Southside.

standings Rogers Heritage The War Eagles (6-16, 2-8 7A-West) lost back-to-back games to Bentonville West this week to slip into a tie for last place in the 7A-West Conference.

Heritage lost the games in diferent fashion. West scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to snatch the 5-4 win, while the Wolverines turned the second game into a rout, scoring 11 runs over the final two innings in the 17-3 win.

Softball standings 5A:7A SB Hitting Leaders 5A:7A SB Pitching Leaders Rogers High The Lady Mounties (12-5, 8-1 7A-West) kept a hold on a share of first place in the 7A-West thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over crosstown rival Rogers Heritage on Tuesday.

Left-hander Sadie Beeman pitched the shutout, striking out seven and walking none. She improved to 8-5 with a 2.76 ERA, while striking out 56 and walking just 13 in 76 innings.

The Tigers were caught a little off-guard when Fayetteville jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead within the first three minutes of their match Friday night.

Bentonville, however, regrouped to send the match to a 1-1 tie before halftime, then exploded for four goals in the second half for a 5-1 victory.
